Can't marry after divorce

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 1:49 pm

Hello fellow Dovakiins,

That is my first topic in this forum and hope to find help here.
It's about marriage. First I married Muiri from Markarth woth no problems. After I relized she isn't a follower I wanted to "divorce" her.
I tiped in these commands in the console:
  • completequest 0007431B
  • resetquest 0007431B
  • resetquest 00021382
I got that from the wiki.

That also was no problem. After I tiped that in I waited for a few hours and done. Muiri was back in her old house and she wasn't my spouse anymore. So far so good. Now I wanted to marry Aela from the Companions.
But I can't no dialogue option. I tried with some other possible spouses but nothing (I wear the amulet of mara). I tried everything: Mods, Console commands. But nothing works :(

Does someone know what I can do about that. Has anyone the same problem like me?

Thanks for your posts.

Maybe try talking to the guy in Temple of Mara again if the quest is completely reset.

Although im not completely sure, but I think to divorce a character that you have married,
the Addfac console command may be more to what you may what to achieve.

Not sure if Addfac can be set as 0 instead.

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Console_Commands_%28Skyrim%29

Addfac 1

Adds the selected NPC to a faction. May cause undesired and buggy AI behavior. Also "addtofaction" can be used instead of addfac.
  • Addtofaction 19809 1 adds an NPC to the marriage-faction, allowing players to marry this NPC.

Since you have already tweaked things with your former spouse, I'm not sure the following steps will rectify your situation, but if you have a save before "divorcing" Muiri you might want to try this (I've used these steps and it has worked every time):

1. Open console with the ~ key
2. Select your spouse, then type "removefac 51596" without the quotes, then press enter/return
3. Then type "player.removefac C6472" without the quotes, then press enter/return
4. Then type "resetquest 74793" without the quotes, then press enter/return
5. Then type "resetquest 21382" without the quotes, then press enter/return
6. Then type "setstage 74793 10" without the quotes, then press enter/return
7. Close the console with the ~ key
8. Wait/Sleep for 24 in-game hours
9. Return to the priest in Riften (Maramal? Not sure about the spelling) and re-purchase an Amulet of Mara for 200 gold
10. Wear the Amulet of Mara and approach marriage-able NPC

If marriage and divorce capability is what you're after I believe I saw a mod that handles that. It was on Skyrim Nexus. I think it even made all NPC's so that anyone can be married.
