Can we maybe see some cutscenes?

Post » Tue Jan 25, 2011 6:29 pm

I thought the beginning cutscene to Oblivion was beautiful and was a little baffled as to why there weren't more of the sort. I think, even for RPG's, to me some moments would be better with different camera angles, a good score, and a cutscene. I kind of personally hope for some cutscenes.

Erm, is there a reason besides just wanting them? I'd rather they didn't have any, makes me feel like I'm my character instead of some person watching my person walk around on his own for a while. Besides, we don't talk besides dragonic words. What would we do in them, stand there looking badass?

The first Halo, master chief said a whole one sentence. You don't have to talk to have a good cutscene. I think sometimes cutscenes can captures some moments better than a 1st person perspective where sometimes you can miss things if you're not even looking in the right direction.

Master chief had entire conversations in some cut-scenes...

Depends about what. Some things would DEFINITELY be better with cutscenes, but some other things are actually more emotive without one (like when you could have lost Baurus and Jauffre in the siege of Bruma. You just came out and they were dead. Left quite the impression of (damn, I wasn't fast enough... or where they just killed in battle? I'll never know...) just gives that sense of doubt.

But things involving your character directly could be made into a cutscene, AS LONG as it doesn't happen often. If I want to look at a movie, I'll play MGS. thanks

But our character's are not silent badass people like Master Chief. They talk to people, ask for quests and rumors. They say a lot through the dialoge, they can be nice or not depending on who they want to be. Why would they talk a lot in dialoge, but when a cutscene came up they'd all of a sudden get quiet?

I'm indifferent about cutscenes. It doesn't really make a difference to me. However, if they are in, make them limited. I don't want them happening after every part of the main quest.

I'm all for cut scenes, as long as they stay in the first person perspective.
when ever they took me out of master chief's view it was jarring and I always hated it, I rather enjoyed the first person cutscenes in reach, however

I absolutely adore first person cut scenes, and I'd be all for them to be in, but no 3rd person please

This is Elder Scrolls, remember? Our character will never have voiced dialogue, and the text dialogue is never personalized; they're just topics of interest. Where did you get the idea that we can be nice or mean through dialogue?

I do remember, and I'm glad they will never have a voice. I also remember many lines of dialoge that could make you sould like a complete jerk if you wanted too. It really was only in the tutorial thing mostly, a few other places here and there. It was more so in fallout, and I'd be surprised if there wasn't more dialoge options like fallout, where you could choose how you talk along as how you play.

And, that still doesn't take away from the fact that you do talk a lot to people, be it just asking about topics of interest or whatever.

I loved the fact that you were still kind of controlling your character in the final battle in Oblivion. I wouldn't have wanted it in a cutscene. That said, I've played enough games to know a good cutscene can also be great and very immersive. I'd prefer it if, whatever they did, they kept it in 1st person view.

Cut-scenes seem more fitting for a linear game, to me. I've always liked the lack of them in TES (except the beginning and end of course).

I don't mind a very small number of cut-scenes, especially in the main quest. Too many cut-scenes just become tedious.

I'd like a cutscene at the start and end of the game as well as two or three revolving around meeting/fighting/killing the main boss. Hopefully one of which is of your character getting his or her ass handed to them and left for dead, then a little montage of their recovering over some weeks/months. Too many games have the hero never sustain any real injury imo, would be a nice change of pace not to mention making the Boss actually feel like someone/thing thats superior to our character, only for us to stubbornly go for round 2 and end up victorious. ^_^

I zoomed up on the split second of cutscene footage featured in the BTS Skyrim video.
Is that mo-cap I see?
