Can not even start up the game after the new patch. THANKS H

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 8:16 pm

Seriously I have had enough of this.

They take almost a month to release a patch that fixes most of the bugs and performance issues and now because of it my game will not even start up.

I have disabled all mods, even reinstalled. No matter what, with this new patch my game WILL NOT START.

This is PATHETIC. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

SPECS -

ATI Mobility Radeon 5730

4096mb RAM

Direct X Version 11

Intel Core i7 Q 720 @ 1.60 GHz (8 CPUs)

I'm having the same problem.

I'm guessing there is no way to play without patching.

Yeah, I've gat the same problem. :banghead:

I have considered putting it all in my fallout 3 directory and see what happens then. :shocking:

I agree that it's pathetic, but they do appear to be aware of this problem. I had the same thing, but it says in the Game Updates thread to re-verify if it happens and that fixed it for me. Of course now it's crashing on exit, but that's not too bad - Morrowind did that for [censored] years.

1) Open Steam
2) Right click on Fallout: New Vegas
3) Hit Properties
4) Click the "Local Files" tab
5) Click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"

If that doesn't work, delete your ini files and repeat steps 1-5

Seriously I am lost for words. I am rarely lost for words.

This is outrageous!

Do they not know how to patch a game? For the lord's sake we as a community patched almost everything that is included in this patch AND WE DIDN'T BREAK THE GAME DID WE ? NO WE DIDN'T. We also did it in like half the time!

LEARN TO MAKE VIDEO GAMES OR DON'T DO IT!

Did you install Archive Invalidation Invalidated or use the FV Mod Manager? If so, go into your Fallout - Default.ini and move the Archive Invalidation.bsa file from the front of the archive list to somewhere else (still prior to the texture/mesh .bsas) or rename it to Fallout - AII.bsa or something like that.

I knew they shouldn't have replaced software guys with monkeys. I knew it right when the feces started flying.

For now, here are some general troubleshooting tips:

1) Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your system, and BIOS if possible. This includes video, audio, motherboard/chipset, and even USB devices and input devices.

2) Reinstall the latest DirectX, Visual C++ 2005, 2008 and 2010 runtimes.

3) Remove all mods and restore the game to its default "out of the box" configuration (not counting the patch). If you use New Vegas Script Extender, please make sure you either remove it or have the absolute latest version.

4) Use Steam to verify the integrity of your game cache. This will make sure all files were properly downloaded when updating.

5) If problems persist, consider running a hard disk check and memory test to make sure your system is working properly.

While I understand your frustration, belittling the developers is not productive. Testing PC games is a lengthy and complex process, and it can be hard to account for every system configuration out there, especially laptops like yours. Most games are tested on desktop PCs only, and generally laptops are far below desktop specs even when they have similar names/numbers (not to mention their driver support often isn't nearly as good).

Agreed, this is pretty absurd. I have a desktop and my game is now unplayable. I love bethesda and I understand that with their epic sized games there is a certain amount of tolerance that must be given for bugs and the like, but I expect the game to be playable. If you're not certain that the patch won't crash everyone's game don't release it.

I'm not sure if this is related to the same problems you folks are having... but I -can- start the game.

Finally. After about four hours of trying.

My problem, now, is that the game starts... but nothing happens. I just get treated to the SOUNDS of the introduction 'slideshow'.

I've tried waiting on it for it to come up, nothing. I've tried everything I could think of to make my computer SWITCH to the game. Nothing.

As far as I can tell, it's running and eating up just as much memory as always.

The only problem is, now I can't see it.
