I don't care who make the DLC. I would love to see what Canada and New York are like.

The only thing I hated about Dead Money was the stupid collar it was so damn annoying. Besides that I think it's better then Honest Heart were I ran into a Radscorpion or Cazador every 2 minutes. Joshua is a great character but he didn't make up for Bethseda making my fear of arachnids twice as bad. I like all of New Vegas DLC but Honest Heart and Dead Money are the weakest imo.
They should allow Obsidian to make another Fallout game with the new engine. ( And the time to finish it....even 18 months was impressive. ) I'd rather see them making a game not a DLC.
I'd buy it. I'd actually prefer it more. FO3 was very good but NV was just a little more Falloutish.
I am still getting FO4 though.
I'd much rather they just do another game with their own DLC.
If it were possible to have the do both, then that would be OK with me, but I think Bethesda can handle it.
Aside from that, it is still my hope that Obsidian has at least an advisory role for FO, in general. I believe two original FO devs are with Obs?
Never hurts to have a second set of eyes to bounce ideas off of.
Tim Cain(Fallout 1and 2) works there, as does Feargus Urquheart(Fallout 1 and 2), and J Sawyer, but Sawyer only worked on Van Buren IIRC.
However, Feargus doesn't seem to think that is needed.

TE: When Bethesda was doing its rounds with Fallout 3, they talked a lot about how they weren't consulting with the original Black Isle team and how they wanted to make it their Fallout, and they weren't too concerned with the past. How has that shifted now? You guys are essentially taking responsibility for the Vegas portion and extending the original Fallout 1 & 2 storylines. How has that integration worked out?
FU: It's like thinking of a Star Wars game. We could run everything by Lucas, but there's ... all these things and - you just get to know it.
For Star Wars, that's what Chris Avellone did, he's the designer for Knights of the Old Republic 2. He literally just went and read everything. I mean everything - I mean really bad junior Jedi books. I'm like "Why are you reading that?" and he says "Well, there might be something in here."
When it comes to Fallout, and what's easy for the internal team, they have all of our design documents, they have all of our materials, they have the games, they had Chris's Fallout bible, they had all this stuff. Would it have been helpful to ask five or six questions, but that would have probably been it. With us, in working on New Vegas, we just already know it, for a lot of us it was something that we created. We still go back, because it is Bethesda's Fallout, it's not Black Isle's Fallout.
We all played Fallout 3 to death. One, because we wanted to, two, because we needed to really understand it. So we really wanted to understand what they were trying to accomplish and what their vision was. And then we followed up with questions. We haven't asked a ton, but things get run by Todd Howard all the time. The amount of conflict that has existed - like "Why can't we do this?" "Well you just can't," - it's been like four things. A lot of it has to do with that they have ideas for the future and so they just don't want us to go playing with where they see their future.
This is similar to what happened with the Star Wars stuff. One of the first things we wanted to do with KOTOR was we wanted to use Alderaan and LucasFilm came back with "No." So it's a collection of that, it's the knowing and the asking of important questions and being upfront with them about everything we're doing. We over-document everything. We're like "Here." And they're like "Stop writing."
Not likely, Obsidian and Zenimax don't really get along very well. iirc the reason why NV was made was part of a contractual agreement that came from the lawsuit over the fallout mmo obsidian was trying to make.
Personally, I'd rather obsidian had nothing to do with fallout. they did well in the past with the franchise but they have proven in my eyes that they can't adapt. The DLC's they made kind of svcked any ways, They were really short and un interesting to me.
Obsidian never tried to make a Fallout MMO. Interplay did. Obsidian was in no way part of the MMO thing.
and both companies DO get along quite well.

“We talk to Bethesda all the time,” he said. “And I think the challenge here doesn’t just apply to Bethesda specifically, but to a lot of publishers in general. But basically, what does all the [current] console crap mean? The challenge in this period of time has been, you have this console transition, and it’s strange that they’re still not announced. But that always creates a disruption in the industry. And now you mix in [the emergence of] mobile and F2P stuff, and it’s left a lot of people reeling.”
“So that’s a lot of the conversation we’ve had with publishers. ‘OK, how do we get back to normal – whatever normal is going to be.’ That’s just the process right now.”
Meanwhile, I also managed to pull Bethesda’s Todd Howard aside and get his two cents, which basically amounted to a reiteration of Urquhart’s sentiment. Nothing’s set in stone, but New Vegas was great, and having another go at it certainly makes an awful lot of sense.
I always feel that DLC being made by a different dev than the ones that made the main game is a bad idea. Unless it's something basic like new items or outfits, then you tend to find too much of a mismatch between the DLC and main game.
Especially in the case of Storylines as both teams will have different ideas and will have be stronger in some areas than others. ie: Bethesda's strong point sees to be the world, whereas Obsidian seems to write a better overall story in terms of dialogue and characters.
I loved Mothership Zeta.. I seem to be one of the few that did. Aliens have always been a part of the Fallout universe so I never saw why people had such a big problem with it. There were lots of cheesy alien sci-fi movies in the 50's/60's. I'd rather obsidian do obsidian stuff.
However,. I always thought it'd be funny to have game companies exchange games and do their own version of each others franchises. Rockstar could do Fallout, Bethesda could do Dragon Age and Bioware/Ea could do GTA.. .. That would be pretty interesting..
The issue for me was that it was a pure corridor shooter, which felt out of place and the fact that the enemies were bullet sponges.
what is with all this obsidian this and obsidian that
because they made a fallout 3 clone that had all the same bugs and glitches doesn t mean they can do it any better
Yes New Vegas was a great game , for me it fzll short compared with the ambient atmosphere and originality of fallout 3, yes it was a great story but other than that new vegas felt empty with little or no life except for the major places pf onterest , nodunwoch buildo,g no arlington cemetry no deathclaw sanctuary
the NV DLC except dead money were fone , except dead money wich was awefull and a complete disaster , a complete lack of imagination incredible basd scenario design and even more terrible voice acting by 2 of the npcs
This again?
No, they should make a whole game.
I hope they get another shot. NV was good but the expansions were sooooo gooooood. With the possible exception of the Zion Valley one. That one kinda annoyed me. But the others? ~swoon~ I know a lot of people didn't like Dead Money cuz of the mechanics (I'm assuming) but the story and characters were excellent. OWB was that AND funny. The one with Ulysses was also somewhat disappointing if I'm being perfectly honest BUT! That environment. They also managed to make the combat challenging without becoming utterly obnoxious.
I liked it too, it added a bunch of cool stuff. Most of my favorite armor and weapons came from MZ.
I don't recall the aliens being individually difficult to kill at all. There were moments that were annoying in that a lot of them would show up.
Well, if they made it, I wouldn't buy it. Not a fan of New Vegas at all. IN fact, nothing they've done taking over other folks series have I liked.
I personally liked Fallout 3 DLC. New vegas DLC just got boring for me, and new vegas in general just got boring. Improved gameplay was great, but it didnt compare to F3 for me. Than again, thats my opinion in what is a forum of opinions. And an opinion isnt always a fact...
I am not a US native, and never visited also.
New Orleans from what I saw in films such as Angel Heart or comic as 100 Bullets, would be my favorite place.
The potential for new factions would be immense. Voodoo practitioners, Satanists, jazzmen, Cajun ......And I would find it totally fantastic if most of the NPCs were black.
Unfortunately Bethesda chose to cling to the skeleton of the old Fallout in your Fallout 3, then this could be the Fallout 100% original since the launch of the first.
Kentucky would be fine too.
Now in Sci Fi and Fantasy fiction, I have seen some very good examples of bringing in a new younger author to coauthor a novel or two in an established author's well loved series.
Writers tend to repeat themselves after a while if for no other reason than the fans have certain expectations.
A new writer working with the established author can create new characters while making respective use of the series characters.
A new writer can bring a fresh view using the new characters while fans can see old favorites in action.
But in that case you are talking about just two authors and not two game studios.
Better Bethesda stays on the East Coast and Obsidian stays on the West Coast.
Besides if Obsidian gets another crack at Fallout, I want more than just some DLC.
I want a whole new location with lots of DLC.
I'd rather they make their own sequel with its own DLC, as they did with New Vegas. New Orleans would be a great place to visit, and it's a place that they've expressed interest in exploring in the past.
I don't care for just another city adventure to resemble FO3 and FO4, but returning to the old FO1 locations could be really interesting, following the events of 1, 2 and 3!
You'll notice it the most at high levels (like, 30) and not have 10/100 stats, perks that give extreme crit ratings, and uber-powerful weaponry (like the Metal Blaster, crits galore!).
The ones with the shields? Those guys are the bullet sponges, and if you're not geared to do massive outputs of damage...
