I realize that this isn't an uncommon problem, but I suppose I was wondering whether or not a solid fix had been found yet.

After starting up the game yesterday, it exhibited a new and odd behavior; hanging forever whenever I tried to load any save (3D model and changing text show, game never loads even after hours of waiting). Verifying game integrity did not help.

I *AM* able to load the saves but the method is a tedious stop-gap measure. If I start a new game and then wait until I reach the character creation menu, I can load all of my old saves just fine, and the game runs perfectly.

Obviously, it svcks to have to do this every single time I want to play....

"Continue" often hangs while loading my saves, of late. I've taken to using "Load" instead. Sometimes, the game will tell me a save is corrupt and cannot be loaded, but by exiting to the main menu, then selecting "Load" and manually selecting the save, it'll load just fine. Frustrating though...

For anyone interested:

This was caused by an incompatibility between two INI settings.
When uGridsToLoad is set higher than default, two settings in SkyrimPrefs must be deleted:
uLockedObjectMapLOD=8
uLockedTerrainLOD=8

Deleting these lines allows all saves to load normally.
