Can an Orc be Dragonborn?

Now this may sound silly, but so far all of my Dragonborns have been either Nords or Imperials (I have played other races before, but have never played the main quest!)

For the first time in any TeS game, I've decided to start to RP as an Orc (as I myself am an "outsider" to Skyrim, I believe it will be easier to RP someone who is also one.) However, I'm very aware that the story of the main quest is very focussed towards Nord Characters. I'm looking at joining the Legion as an Orc and then discovering I am Dragonborn when (CIVIL WAR & MQ SPOILER)

Spoiler
the Dragonborn goes to Whiterun and the Jarl sends him to get the Dragon Stone and fight the Dragon before agreeing to assist The Empire
.

I know that technically speaking, GAMEPLAY WISE, an Orc can easily be Dragonborn, but would the citizens of Skyrim be less accepting of a hero who's technically not a "human" and openly worships Malacath?
