Does anybody else stand in this boat with me? Have you figured out a way to get past it?
This happens sooner or later with every game I've ever played. When I feel this way I know it's time to move onto another game. You can always come back to Skyrim later.
If you can't play more than an hour at a time, don't play more than an hour. Simple as that.
No reason to feel bad about it -and it's much healthier than playing for 14 hours straight, every day.
Do you have any reasons for this, or are you just tired of the game for playing it too much?
"I use to be an adventurer like you until I took a stent in the leg"
Install mods.
There's another 500 hours of new and fresh gameplay right there
Question is if the TC is on console or PC. Not everyone is on PC
And those hours are just to get the mods cooperating!
Like others have said, no harm in your situation. Play only an hour if need be. As long as you are enjoying your time, don't sweat it. Take a break and play some other games and come back to Skyrim in a month or 6. You'll find your sweet spot again
If you've completed the main quest and the faction quests, how are you not 'into it'?
I get it if you're not feeling the vibe of the game, but I wouldn't have stuck with a game long enough to do that many quests if I really wasn't into it.
In any case, I think the 'way to get past it' is to play some different games... not sure what else you would want? Though there's always RPing, dead is dead, etc.
Well it sounds like you are just bored of the game. That happens to everyone, no matter how much we love a game. It's time to play something else.
Pretty simple solution to being bored of one game
Ha! 500 hours is the lower end of the estimate. Mods are an unbelievable source of nearly endless added entertainment for Skyrim.
If you're burned out but still want more of that Skyrim goodness, you can check out some of Bethesdas other releases, especially the Fallout series. If you're more burned out on Bethesda's gamestyle in general, then you might want to take a look around for some other games. I dont know the console market very well, but if you're on PC you can extract hundreds of hours from Mount and Blade Warband which I feel would be a great purchase for someone who loves Bethesda games. Its more of a strategy game than Skyrim, and I would describe it as a nobility simulator, but its incredibly open and highly modable, with many great mods already released.
And as some other peoplpe have said, mods can be a great way to revitalize Skyrim after all these years. You could take a break for a month or two and come back at it with a huge load order of mods that can turn the game into nearly anything you like.
That doesn't matter. Sometimes it's just time to take a break. Sometimes we're just not in the mood to play a certain game, read a book, watch a movie, listen to a piece of music, even if we haven't finished reading or listening or watching or playing. There's nothing we can do about it. Maybe you'll be in the mood again tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or next year. Who knows? None of us can predict our emotions.
This isn't a job. Playing video games is supposed to be fun. If you don't feel like playing, don't play. That's my attitude. Play another game for awhile. Come back to Skyrim when it feels right.
I agree with this advice. And personally, I've never had my basic desire to play a game changed by mods, and the advice to "just add mods" when you're simply not interested in playing at all is a bit like telling someone who says that they're not hungry that they need more food. I tend to mod my games the most when I'm already keen to play.
