It sure would be nice if I an initial quest post apocalypse was burying your wife/husband... Leaving them in the pod is a little cold

HAHAHHA! Nice.

It would be cool if you had to carry your mate out of the vault, reach sanctuary and pick a nice place to bury them.

Would be a cool intial - misc. quest.

There is a few bodies out there I have taken the time to "bury".. well drag and dump off the side of the bridge/ road. Just looks slovenly to have a constant dead corpse as the first thing you see coming into town. Raids on my settlements I stopped cleaning up when I saw okay they disapear after time. However some corpses just linger and moving them to dump in a river even has no effect.. They spawn right back to the same spot I first encountered them. Sunshine mills in particular is a spot I have dead ghoul bodies that are eternally re-placed right there on the foot of the sleeping bags I placed in some cabins for bedding... At least they look more like sleeping settlers now

Uh....errr....

I thought leaving them in the Ice Box was a rather convenant burial in itself, in a box...under the ground. Of course knowing my luck they would want cremation which would mean thawing her out.

In some way, the spouse is already buried in a small coffin underground. Why carry him/her out, walk all the way down to the Sanctuary and dig another hole to put them in? As far as my character is concerned, Vault 111 is a catacomb for those unlucky enough to reserve a spot there.

Right now he/she is in a tomb fit for a king really. Egyptian pharaohs would be jealous.

Why drag her out to be buried in the wasteland soil and potentially desecrated by wasteland scavengers/mutants/animals? I left Nora in her pod to be preserved and kept safe in her own perfect coffin.

Even after 200 years, zero percent decomposition. Keep them there

Nah. I think a marked grave in sanctuary (in your backyard?) is more appropriate.

Is a bit stupid that we just leave them there and [censored] off.

In 3287, when space archeologists pour through all that we left behind, they'll stumble upon Vault 111 to Nora/Nate and the other members of pre-War Sanctuary. They will marvel at the wizardly of preserving a human body, at how they appear to have only died yesterday despite being dead for over 1,060 years.

Wait, so nobody else picked up some nice pre war food and stored it in her Cryo unit? That way I can tell piper to go get Salisbury steak next to the old wife.

I agree OP. Don't worry though. This great idea will make for an excellent mod when GECK comes out. I'm thinking something on the scope of Clean Up Your Corpses that was done for Skyrim.

It would be nice to bury all the other ppl who were murdered in Vault Tech's little freezer experiment.

Considering that I just ran into a Raider burying his friend, I support this!

Well the body is still frozen, I was hoping the Institute had the technology to resurrect him, then I may have joined them.

It's a shame to leave the popsicle.

I'm sure there will be a mod...

It actually makes no since to carry their body surface side to then bury how deep in the ground, I'm assuming just in the yard of the old house?

And how soon did you plan on you know having the player character do this? Upon waking up?

When we say have no idea of what awaits us when we go topside and really a valid point has been made on we have no idea what animal may dig up their remains. Of course your assuming that the player character also has the emotional strength to go back down there and well the courage obviously. Not too mention that the equipment will work a third and fourth time after not having been used for so long we will get that lucky again. All so that we can remove the body from a perfectly good coffin to then drag the body outside and down a dirt path to then bury in what just the ground or am I mistaken we are going to build a prestine coffin to then dig a 6 foot deep hole in the ground. From what I've seen of the player characters carpentry I don't know about that.

It's absurd, really.

Sole Survivor: "Preston! I want you and the others to build me a coffin for a body that's currently buried in Vault 111. I'm going to drag that body back up to the surface so we can find a nice shady spot in the Sanctuary to put him/her back into the ground again."

Well its a bit bone chilling(pun not intended)that our character just forgets about their spouse. like come on just make a grave for them just outside your house.

This is the same person that has no qualms about taking his/her companions down to Vault 111 just to look at their dead spouse.

Hmmm...disturbing, this is...

Shove her in Shaun's crib and send her down the creek towards Abernathy Farm then show Blake and shout "See we all have pain you fool!! Don't send me to a potential life threatening place just because you want some materialistic possession!" Then sell your rings to Connie.

Also kick Blake. In the face.

Burying instead of leaving in the pod makes sense to a lot of people, me included. Stuck in the stasis pod, her body is empty, devoid of life. Buried anywhere, her body will decay as it feeds bacteria (gives them life) which provides nutrients to the ground, which helps give plants life. They get eaten by an animal or human, and they go on to die and enrich another cycle. There is a beauty to the act of burial. By comparison, leaving your spouse in the vault, the place where he or she was murdered, seems heartless and inconsistent with the strong relationship that was evident in our character's pre-holocaust lives.
