Can we please be more positive about a game we are all looki

This is a nice version of my last thread. Can we all be a bit more positive about the release of Skyrim. Recently the only threads, seem to be new info :) or arguments about attributes :( . I know people may have doubts about attributes, but we need to see how perks work in game before we make judgement. I think we should place our trust in a company that makes great games that nearly always achieve GOTY. Could we please try and be a little more positive about a game we are all looking forward to?

EDIT*Look i'm not saying no argument or confrontation is good, i'm trying to say 50 threads on the same argument gets pretty boring.

I'm usually positive unless someone else isn't. It ticks me off when people complain about the coolest things in Skyrim. :meh:

A topic asking people to behave a certain way isn't going to sway people one way or another. If you get frustrated with what's being posted on Skyrim General Discussion, explore other areas of the forums. They're a little less populated, without most of the negativity, and fun. ;)

Is there something wrong with wanting a game to blow everything out of the water, to be weary of past events where it essentially replayed as it is now, that I enjoy the series so much I have to be critical about the game and developers who are making it so that we do not have a repeat?

Uhm no, no I'm not going to pretend to like the announcement of a certain feature if I most certainly do not. This is a forum, made to discuss the game, good and bad, and that is what we're doing, there is nothing wrong with that.

Considering Beth's track record going from MW to OB, means that I have no reason whatsoever to assume that they'll make a general improvement, so I'm gonna stay skeptical.

I agree. There is an awful lot of biased assumption here that nobody benefits from. It's one thing to voice what we would all like to see in the game. It is another thing to completely condemn something we haven't even seen or tried yet. It doesn't reflect well on the type of person they are, and it can't be nice for Bethesda to see, the guys who have created one of the greatest gaming series' in history. If they want to add something or take it away, it is based on what people have liked in the past, or based on what they think is a good design decision. They haven't disappointed in the pat, and to be fair, the whole reason any of us is here, is because we've played some form of Bethesda game and loved it to bits. We need to put our faith in them, that they will make another fantastic game, and if something doesn't live up to expectations, at least have the decency to give criticism AFTER you have tried it.

Thanks for reposting your message in a better way. Despite the moderators and the community holding you to a higher standard, there still (and there are already have) will be people who come in here and viciously proclaim why people should be critical with Bethesda or why they shouldn't.

It may seem unfair at first but if things get out of hand, rest assured the moderating team will take care of them.

In terms of negative threads towards the development of Skyrim. I try not to frequent them. I'm staying pretty much in the loop when it comes to Skyrim information so I like to base my opinions off of what I have personally learned. And I, personally do not know enough.

I plan to continue with my current trend of being happy and grateful and excited for it coming out whilst still being critical and not simply a mindless devotee who accepts every opinion of the developers as the ideal truth without considering the implications myself and drawing as reasonable and rational an anolysis as possible.

If players were not allowed to voice their concerns and developers did not listen to those concerns, we would still be in the dark ages of gaming.

Change is scary and concern is warranted when change is announced especially when it comes to a series as loved as TES, considering the epic fails a lot of companies have made with sequels over the years.

Expecting people to be good little yes men/women just because you say ain't going to happen any time soon sorry.

do you really find it that difficult to detect sarcasm??

on topic - why not be critical? that is where all the fun discussion comes from on this forum, and definitely not from threads where people say 'lets all thank beth for being so wonderful!' - they die out, because they are boring. Don't let other peoples negativity effect your own view - everyone should come to their conclusion themselves.
For us that were here pre-oblivion, it is alot like seeing histroy repeat itself, and not in a good way - that's why we are not always flamboyantly optimistic about everything.

We are fans, we get excited both positively and negatively.
We have a vested interest in a series we love. We are the consumers who should have a voice.
Plus, we have been working with limited information so far.

And I don't see people making threads complaining about being too positive and how most people are being sheeple :brokencomputer: so what makes these kinds of thread more entitled to existence.

To love a game series is to criticize it. Obviously, our presence on this forum proves we're all excited about Skyrim. So what do you expect, a bunch of threads that are variations on "Name all the coolest things about Skyrim TEEHHEE"?

Why?

This isn't a hugbox, and skyrim is not going to be perfect. If you only want to stand around saying "I am really looking forward to skyrim!" all day and never having any discussion on it, then you may as well not come to a forum, because you don't want to hear other people's opinions at all.

I agree with the OP. I am looking forward to Skyrim, and I don't care about the changes so much. I am at least willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, and no matter what, I know that over all Skyrim will be AWESOME!!! :touched:

So, let's try to be happy and excited about it, and not be too negative about how it will be until we have at least played it a few times... Making assumptions and judgments in advance is never a good thing, and i hardly think it will benefit anyone...

Edit: However, there is nothing wrong with discussing it. What irks me is all the people who do nothing but complain--like, if you aren't happy with Skyrim, what are you even doing here?

Do you really really expect to change people's behaviour just because you start a thread and give them a few words of reprehension?

No.

It is fine as it is. Except for a few blatantly rude threads, this forum is a reflexion of people's opinions, their hopes and fears. Why would you want to stifle that? Let's not turn this into a really devoted fan's playground. Does Bethesda deserve credit? Absolutely. It also deserves critical thinking costumers.

Well then your probably best asking the mods to look into it because unless your planning on making a thread every day telling users not to post duplicate threads (irony?), your words will fall on death ears over time.. Especially when the game is released and those 50 threads about the same subject turn into 500 threads about the same.

How's that for being positive?

I put my trust, blindly, in Bethesda with Oblivion. I found out it's not always best to "Blindly" follow anyone. Oblivion, in my opinion, was a disaster.

Ever since then I've been, and will continue to be, very thorough in doing my research and reading what it actually written and not just saying "Everything's fine" when I can see with my own 2 eyes and ears that based on what I've seen and what I've heard that there are "Potential" flaws in Skyrim as well. Those being the quest compass, the rumors about removal of spell making, the removal of attributes and birth signs. Those are things that I'm not very happy about and until I see and hear more about the actual game play I'm going to be skeptical.
