Can I restore deleted dialogue?

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:38 pm

I'm an idiot! I created an NPC for my new mod and deleted a line of dialogue by mistake. I made the NPC part of the Megaton Resident faction and the line that was deleted was about looking for dad. Now (during testing) my .esp is causing crashes when running the main quest. The mod was cleaned with FO3Edit, but apparently dialogue is not checked? I tried deleting my NPC and the dialogue quest, but the dialogue remains deleted when a new NPC is created.
Is there a way with FO3Edit to fix this?...I looked thru Miax's tutorial, but couldn't see anything.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe so. Open your mod in Fo3edit. Then look through the records under Dialog and find the line that was deleted. (It will start with MQ0*something*) Then just right click on it and say Delete. That will delete the record that says the dialog line was deleted. Effectively undeleting it. (That was confusing. :P) Then close and save, and reload your mod in the GECK and you should be good to go.

I found the line in FO3edit but when I right click on it in the left column, there is no "delete" option...there is a "undelete and disable references" and a "remove" option to name a couple, but no "delete" option. Not sure which one to use?

The "remove" function seems to have done the trick.......will still have to playtest, but looks good....thanks Gunmaster95. :foodndrink:
