You will be fine to run this game...may even pull high settings (not max) on the monitor you're using.

I'm using an 8800GT with a 24" monitor at a resolution of 1920 X 1200, and I can run the settings at High without any problems. So you should easily be able to run New Vegas on High settings.

Anyone who scores at least 4k 3dmarks in 3dmark06 will have no problems running this game with good settings.

That's not "recommended"...those are supposed "minimum".

I just wished they didn't list the minimum CPU to be a "dual-core" one....that's very misleading if it is also true that people who were able to play FO3 are also able to play New Vegas. Well then, what about the single-core users that ran the game?????

Actually it's the other way around. Those are the recommended system specs.

Looks like you beat me to respond here. If those specs are for a recommended CPU, then why are they listed with what I presume are the minimum requirements for a video card? It just seems confusing....I find it hard to believe that the recommended video card to run this game would be a Radeon X1300 and a GeForce 6. Hope you catch my drift here?

I'm not trying to be a pest here, but just trying to make sense of things. If those are the recommended specs to run this game, then the specs for the video card are FAR FAR lower than the recommended cards to run Fallout 3. I would think New Vegas has a bit more oomph to hardware requirements, but I can't imagine it running all that well with a GeForce 6 or a Radeon X1300...not at recommended at least. Here are the requirements for FO3:

Minimum System Requirements:
?Windows XP/Vista
?1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
?2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
?Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM (NVIDIA 6800 or better/ATI X850 or better)

Recommended System Requirements:
?Intel Core 2 Duo processor
?2 GB System RAM
?Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)

Recommended for FO3 was a Nvidia 8800 or Radeon 3800 series card, which is WAY better than a GeForce 6 or X1300 one....it doesn't make sense.

They're the recommended specs that were passed along for the game (also on the back of the game's packaging).

In terms of the graphics card, you should be able to run the game with the cards listed on the back. If you've got a nicer card, more power to you. :)

Yes, I was afraid my PC wouldnt handle it.....not really but still.http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq102/Starforce9/FalloutNewVegasspecs.jpg
Also remember that Canyourunit.com is not a very reliable site. If you have an Intel video chipset the game will (probably) not run without a somewhat unreliable fix.

Intel video chipsets are something like "Intel HD, Intel GMA4500, Intel Mobile 965." There are many different types of Intel integrated chipsets. Nvidia 400 integrated cards would be decent, but a dedicated card would still be best. The 5550 should run the game at about mid-high settings assuming its close to FO3 specs.

Intel's Integrated Graphic Chipsets....these are integrated into many motherboards (desktop and especially laptops) and serves as the "onboard video". They're absolute trash compared to ATI and Nvidia's integrated chipsets, not that they're all that great either but still much better. If there's an option (a slot that is) for a real video card, make use of it if you're gonna game.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 3.4 GHz
8GB RAM
GeForce GTX 285

I'll run it on high settings at 1920x1200 just fine. I'm really tempted to upgrade my video card, though. I just refinanced my condo and I'm skipping my Oct mortgage payment, so I have extra payola burning a hole in my pocket. :P

My 285 (nearly 2 years old) still really hangs in there with newer cards, but I could sell it for around $200 (only paid $275 new) and get me a GTX 480 or a 5870 just to make sure it's nothing but butter. :D I'm not sure it's worth the $150 - $250 for an upgrade or if I should just wait for the next generation of GPUs.

Hard drive space tells you almost nothing about whether or not your computer will run a game well. CPU, GPU, and RAM matter the most. ;)

Wait for Radeon's 6-series if you don't mind switching brands. The early glimpses show them to be rather beastly.
