Can settlements "reset" on you?

Hey all, I'm having a weird problem at the Starlight. My character is level 56 and has close to 200 hours of play time. I just decided to revisit Starlight and maybe build there, as I've become bored with some of my other houses, and I was kinda saving this place because it's so awesome. The problem is when I go there, it's like untouched. All the cars are still there, it's not even registered on my map as a settlement - it's like I never clicked the workshop.

The thing is I can't remember if I did on this character, I've played her so long I don't remember what she did at low level.. but I must have, right? This is like one of the first things Garvey asks from you, if I recall. The thought that a settlement can reset bothers me, so surely I'm mistaken. Shouldn't I have had to come here to have continued with the Minutemen?

What?

No.

You probably didn't do the quests.

In all my time playing I've never had that happen to me. You probably didn't activate the workshop, which is a good thing. Think of all the steel and stuff you'll have now!

Happy building! :foodndrink:

Edit- The MM quest send the PC to random workshops. The starlight drive in is just one of 33(I think) settlements Preston asks you to find.

Oh, maybe that's it then. Every character I've played has always been sent to Starlight immediately after helping at Tenpines. I just assumed the game went Sanctuary, Tenpines, Corvega, Starlight at the beginning... thanks. It probably did send this character to a different one and I forgot.

If the workbench is unactivated, then it's probably because you haven't been there. There's no set order in which Preston assigns settlements to unlock. I got sent to Somerville Place around level 60 on my first character, and I got sent there at around level 15 on my second. As far as Starlight Drive-In in particular is concerned, I don't think I've ever been 'sent' there. I think I've always just unlocked it on my own just by exploring and ending up there.
