When I get in a vertibird I cannot shoot. The first time it didn't matter as it just took me to the big ship, however now for the quest "show no mercy" I cannot complete it as I just fly around in the vertibird and nothing happens.

I can't aim the gun, or shoot it. I have loaded old saves, used power armor, nothing makes it work.

Has anybody found a fix?
