I am new to skyrim and did not really understand what i was doing when i was using my perks. I have now played and read enough and have the basics down (Level 8). I wanted to become an assassin but so far I have been putting my perks in two handed W, Archery, and mage.

should i start over? and if so what race.

if not what- where to put my perks.

i play on the ps3

also anything you feel that may help a new guy.

Khajiit or Argonion are the best sneaks IMO, I would say start over but it's not necessary

Tips for anyone new or not don't spend points in lockpicing and majority of the heavy armor (other then max the first one) unless you like wearing entire sets that is if you wear heavy armor.

There is no need to start over. You can simply start using the skills that benefit a member of the Dark Brotherhood the most. And those skills will progress naturally. But, any perks applied to 2-handed are wasted.

go through and read the perk trees. see what will work best with what. You could start over but at lvl 8 its not really necessary. just start from where youre at.

For assassin focus mainly on sneak, and id def. work illusion if you like magic, besides that you can do anything you want. archery, one handed, you can even do pickpocket and alchemy to drop poisons on people if you want. Just play how you want your character to be and watch which skills lvl up.

You should pick a single play style (warrior, mage, sneak) and stick with it. The fun part is you get to make multiple characters for multiple playthroughs. warrior does companions and stormcloack/legion , sneak does dark brotherhood and theivesguild, mage does the mages guild.

attempt creating a player, in which you can utilize all his assets at the same time (armor, combat, smithing/ enchanting) DO NOT try to be a jack of all trades player, as the end result will be dissatisfying.

Don't listen to them. Everyone should do at least on Jack-of-all-trades character. That will provide you with enough experience to determine how you would want to play on another character. You won't know unless you try it all.
