Can someone shed some light on the 3D issues with ATI/AMD

ive done my research for the past few hours about trying to play Crysis 2 in 3D and its been a huge headache. ive been out of the pc game/software/hardware news for roughly 3 years/

and YES. I know it works best with NVidia. They have more or better 3D technology than AMD.

but everything i'm reading is from basically a year ago and a lot can change in a year.

I have a Vizio PASSIVE 3D HDTV.
I reinstalled crysis 2. updated to 1.9 and the 3D was grayed out.

reverted back to a clean install so avoided the 1.9 patch.

I read add some line code to the system.csg or whatever. did that. made it not gray but didn't actually do anything when i try to do activate those settings.

I have a RADEON HD4870, which is of course a few years old, but it still supports 3D from what i've read.

And I downloaded some iZ3D driver that said can do something, but I haven't had much luck with that either.

I got this 3D tv for the hell of it. this game is actually the ONLY thing I own that works for 3D. and my god, i'm going to use the functions if it kills me.

I won't be able to check this for a couple days, so please, i'd LOVE to come back to some useful info.
Thank you.
