Can we still wear pants?

Post » Sun Jul 10, 2011 6:11 am

Well, I'm not very concerned about the opposite combination: pants/greaves without shirt (just look around). On the other hand, if all cuirasses come with "pants", I will no longer be able to strut around with a cuirass only, and let whatever cloth happens to be hanging conceal the rest (chitin cuirass comes to mind); admittedly, an appearance more popular among my beast race characters, climate be damned.

I'm not sure. This talk of "merging" sounds suspect. Hopefully it's not as bad as I've begun to think it is.

No one knows exactly. I just hope pants and shirts are seperate.

I am 100% sure that pants and shirts are 1 piece , IF there are wearable clothes for the PC. If they merged cuirass and greaves they also merged pants and shirts , or they took away clothes for the player character.

Btw i believe players won't be able to wear clothes only armor.

since curiass and greaves are merged can we still wear normal pants, i dont want to be going around with in some eleven skirt armour without pants

i think only Armour is merged and clothes is still separate

in this picture his knee caps are showing
http://www.elderscrolls.com/skyrim/media/screenshots/dragon-fight/

in this there is some type of green pants covering his knees
http://www.elderscrolls.com/skyrim/media/screenshots/horse/

and yes the Armour is the same

in this picture there is a lute player who looks like his shirt and pants are separate, but to the left there is a female dunmer who has armour which looks merged

armor is not the same -__-
take a close look, theyre entirely different, no similarities at all
in the horse pic he wearing like leather vest, in other hes wearing scaly armor (just take my word on this one ive look anolyzed many of the screens very closely and i know which armor it is)

the links u posted are not similar, u may have posted incorrect picture links :/

What is your reasoning for that?

first ty for sharing your finding you really looked into it and you also bring up some good points, i really hope i can run around shirtless >.< as iv been doing so in morrowind
but as much as i hate to say it we will have to wait and see. REALLY hope i can wear just pants atleast for i dont even wear armor BUT if not ill just wear a Dark Brotherhood assassins suit , they coulda just put shoes with pants that would have been way better *sigh*

I believe or i am sure that shirts and pants/skirts will be 1 piece , they want to make lots of armor variations , for the direction the game is taking i believe that the player character will be only able to wear armor i don't think the developers see any reason for us players to wear clothes anymore :(

This is some crazy stuff i was thinking yesterday , robes yes we will be able to wear robes for magic reasons but clothes ... i don't think so but i do hope we can :sadvaultboy:

I also believe if there are clothes ingame they will be full suits

Just my opinion , and remember that i do the best i can or try with my english :3

If we can still wear pants, they'll probably be chosen for us depending on what top we pick.

I fear this will be the case.

Because it's bad to give role players options. :verymad:

Trust me, throw on a nice, warm, robe that still allows a little 'freedom' and you'll not even WANT to wear pants :D

Judging from what we know.. you can kiss any armor/clothing customization goodbye, Bethesda doesn't care about it.

Glad they combined the two, less of a chance to add ugly leg gear that only boosts stats.

If you don't want to wear ugly leg gear, than choose something that looks better to wear on your legs, problem fixed.

Right, because Bethesda merged every single piece of armor into one single suit, you just put on a suit which covers your entire body, including your head, and it also includes your shield. I guess I just imagined the elven gauntlets, boots and helmets I saw in the demo video that were obviously seperate from the "elven armor" suit, and I also imagined the part in the fan interview where we see it written in plain text that only greaves and cuirasses are merged, gaunrlets, boots and helmets are still seperate, and of course I missed the part where it was confirmed that clothes are also merged. Yep, definitely not a single shread of armor and clothing customization in the whole game, and while we're at it, I should also note that you don't get to choose your race in Skyrim and that dragons aren't in the game.

Judging from what I'm reading here, we can kiss the practice of actually doing research on the released information about the game before criticizing it goodbye, Elder Scrolls fans don't care about it.

Right now, we don't know how clothing works, they've only talked about armor. Though in light of the reasons for merging armor we've been given from Bethesda, I wouldn't be surprised if clothes work the same, seeing as with clothes as well some outfits could also not look right if the pants and shirt are seperate, though to be fair, this could also be addressed by simply doing what Oblivion already did where some clothes came in outfits that took up at least the shirt and pants slots and some came as seperate pieces, depending on what works best for the item in question, but that might not allow for increased variety in clothes selections. Syill, we don't have any facts to go on, just speculation.

Holy crap, I never even thought about this! My favourite thing to do in Oblivion was run around shirtless, it made me feel so fricken tough, punching a goblin out while wearing nothing but my pants. :D

....

Probably TES 6 or 7. Shields and helmets must be always separate though, even in CS they are separate!!!

Morrowind:9 ( Cuirass, Left Pauldron, Right Pauldron, Left Gauntlet, Right Gauntlet, Greaves, Boots, Shield, Helmet)
Oblivion: 6 ( Cuirass, Gauntlets, Greaves, Boots, Shield, Helmet)
Skyrim: 5 ( Armor!, Gauntlets, Boots, Shield, Helmet)
TES6: 4?
TES7: 3?

Dispute it.

We must collectively say "NO!" NOW! I actually don't care about it but you know the story,

First they cut the pauldrons,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't care about pauldrons.

Then they cut the greaves,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't care about greaves.

Then they cut the boots,
and I didn't speak out because I didn't care about boots.

Then they cut the things I care,
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Hold onto your boots ladies and gentlemen, we are at the last phase of streamlining. :P

This isn't Fallout 4. It's The Elder Scrolls.
The audience is different; Rpg players demand choices.
The heritage is different; TES has been steadily losing choices throughout its last two iterations.

This merging armor/clothes slots is just another tree or two. Keep looking gentlemen, there's a forest there and I don't think we're going to like being in the middle of it.

It was just a bad joke. Of course I am not a big fan of having less choices.

Holy crap, no platform bashing yet.

But yes, other games had less and achieved more.

Deal with it.

I didn't like it in fallout 3 either. I would always wish that I could mix and match armor pieces.

I doubt that they will take away a clothing spot, only armor I am glad because this gives me a bigger advantage than spell effectiveness for wearing my fancy clothes( I can now have one more enchantment.
