Can we still wear pants?

Post » Sun Jul 10, 2011 12:40 am

since curiass and greaves are merged can we still wear normal pants, i dont want to be going around with in some eleven skirt armour without pants

i think only Armour is merged and clothes is still separate

3) Is armor handled like in Oblivion (with each body part being welded together) or in Morrowind (with each body part separate)? Will you be able to wear both clothes and armor at the same time?
Matt: The armor system is very similar to Oblivion’s. The main difference is that the upper and lower body armors, the cuirass and greaves, have been combined into one piece. This helps create armor styles that have the look we needed for Skyrim. In most of the Nordic designs we created, the upper armor would completely cover the lower armor, making it unnecessary. We get much better visual results combining those pieces, and it renders a lot faster too, so we can put more people on screen, so that was an easy tradeoff for us. We can also make a lot more armors now, so the number and variation types are more than we’ve ever had.

So basically its was for visual results Armour looks better Etc. so there will likely be separated clothing?

We still don't know if we can wear clothes under armour, I highly doubt it though.

No. You`ll be forced to run around killing dragons in your underwear.

If we can still wear pants, they'll probably be chosen for us depending on what top we pick.

and yes the Armour is the same

in this picture there is a lute player who looks like his shirt and pants are separate, but to the left there is a female dunmer who has armour which looks merged

Glad they combined the two, less of a chance to add ugly leg gear that only boosts stats.

There is absolutely no reason why pants and shirts would be merged. Greaves are not "armor pants" >_>

I believe that the clothes will all be seperate but the armor is indeed merged. And, judging from the one picture where the Dovakhiin is wearing a vest under his armor, who knows..? Perhaps we will indeed be able to wear clothes under our armor...

Well... here is, as Zappa's dog said, the crux of the biscuit:

Either pants and shirts will be combined in the same way as cuirass and greaves, or the claim that the combining of cuirass and greaves was done at least in part in order to allow rendering more NPCs on-screen at a given time is bull [censored].

Perhaps this is all just because the of the fact that armor is generally much more intricate than clothing... That may be why they gave us the whole "more NPCs " and "rendering" spiel.

Apparently we get less NPCs if they weren't combined, so I doubt it.
I guess my PC just can't handle all those taxing extra armor slots

Agreed, I hope we still have the option to mix and match shirts and pants.

The armor isn't the same. In the first pick the front and back are merged like a vest and it looks like leather. In the second picture the armor looks like it's made of metal and the front is clipped to the back.

It's not, but I'm going to be an optimist here for a change and say that we can wear pants + armor, maybe even skirts and shirts.

The armour isn't the same. He's wearing what looks like iron on the horse, and a fur skirt with the dragon... Completely different dude.

I am sure hoping we can wear clothing under our armor like in Morrowind. I want my character to be realistic. You wouldn't want to wear armor without clothes underneath so Dovahkiin shouldn't have to be naked under his/her's.
