Can`t summon a fabricant

Post » Sun Sep 12, 2010 5:33 pm

As the title says, I cannot summon a fabricant. Same with bonewolf and maybe summon wolf/bear. I loaded Morrowind and Tribunal in my construction set and checked the enchantment on Barilzar`s maze. The spell effect was SummonFabricant. Then I loaded all of my mods on the construction set and guess what - it was now named sEffectSummonFabricant. And it doesn`t work. The others are sEffectSummonCreature... I`m guessing those are the summon bear/wolf/bone wolf spells.

I suspect this is the work of either Morrowind Code Patch or Morrowind Patch project. Aside from removing them from my mod lists, which would bring back numerous bugs, how can I fix this? I really want my summons. I <3 those fabricants.

Edit: Upon further tinkering with the construction set I`ve found that neither Morrowind Code Patch nor Morrowind Patch project is at fault here. This confuses me for my other mods should not be the ones changing the summon spell...

I`ll have a real hard laugh if I find out that Better Bodies is causing this.

Edit again: Okay, turns out it was actually a mod of mine. Strange, though, as I did not even touch summons and this has happened to me on previous installations of the game without that mod. Yet summoning fabricants stops working if only I tick it... I remade the mod exactly as I remembered it and this .esp new esp file does not seem to cause this problem. Strange.

Well, turns out I didn`t need help solving this. But if the end`s well, then all`s well. :celebration:

One of your mods has dirty GMSTs. Trouble with the fabricant spell is one of the more overt effects of those.

I think Yacoby had a script that tested all of your mods at once for dirty GMSTs, not sure if I remember it correctly though (or if my info is still up to date), haven't done Morrowind things for a while.

Btw, is there a specific reason why you assumed so eagerly that the MCP may be at fault? I haven't followed its latest development, but we spent weeks with pretty thorough testing before we had the first release (since we did some rather complicated changes and really didn't want to ruin people's savegames), and we didn't have any complaints about bugs at that time. So I'm a bit surprised to see the MCP as an apparent "first choice" for a bug.

Ah, good to know both for now and future modding.

I don`t use much mods that damper with spells or bugs or add anything new. Mainly just replaced textures, replaced textures and... replaced textures. There are certain mods I use on every installation of my game such as MCP, Morrowind Patch Project, Better Bodies and Better heads and I`ve gotten this summoning bug on numerous installations. My logic told me it had to be one of my favourites... So when I have better bodies, better heads, official plugins, a mod that makes cliffracers more passive, encumberance mod, Morrowind Patch Project and MCP, I don`t exactly have a wide set of mods to blame it on. I also wouldn`t have thought that my little mod would cause such a thing, considering I know that I didn`t even touch the summons.

Don`t worry, though. I`ve yet to experience any bugs I can blame on MCP with my current knowledge.

But your mod does not need to even touch Summons for this to happen. It is a dirty GMST problem, which are not that strange at all.

And if for some reason you did accidentally edit the Spell, you can just remove the edit with Enchanted Editor (instead of remaking your esp.)

it happens when you create a mod, and have only Morrowind.esm loaded. If you have at Tribunal and/or Bloodmoond loaded, you'll not have evil Game settings
