Considering in one of the quests, you end up selling some guys goat to one appearently. So, yeah, how you did that if the giants don't talk is beyond me. Tried to talk to him to get the goat back and all he did was attack me, so I was forced to rip out his achilles heel.

It's a feature that was taken out. There used to be a quest where you help some giants find a lost mammoth or something.

It was a bit obvious I mean if they could talk then they'd have to be a playable race or something if they lived in towns etc.

I talked to a hagraven once, no kidding! It was a quest that I stumbled upon while exploring.

As for giants, I have no idea.

Just because they talk doesn't mean they have to be playable... by your logic Draugr, Hagravens and Dremora should be playable and live in towns.

I'm also disappointed. Can we really not talk to Falmer, either?

Yea but for obvious reasons they can't be, because they are blood thirsty killers.

The fact of the matter is something talking doesn't mean that it has to be playable.

But do you not realise that if this race can speak why on earth is it avoiding a multi-cultural environment safe from danger. So if it doesn't attack humanoid creatures why can't it live in a city.

The twisted, bat-like murderers that try to destroy anything that sees the sun regularly?

Not sure. All of the ones that have been within half a mile of me are now small pools of blood.

Maybe because Giants don't like the other races due to eras of mistreatment. Your logic is very simple-minded and has been this entire thread. It's like the Orcs living in strongholds, back in Daggerfall and before, Orcs weren't even allowed in cities and were typically attacked on sight. Orcs were enemies. Perhaps one day, Giants could possibly become part of civilized culture, but for now, they are not. It adds variety, mystery, intrigue, and realism. Maybe the Giants just want to be left alone.

With that said, I am sad we can't talk to Giants. They are intelligent and they are obviously capable of speech, as they are the ones who named the Dwemer "Dwarves" first.

Thus the mystery of the ancient, presumed-to-be-extinct snow elves of the north has been solved... they're nothing but a bunch of pathetic bat-like, goblins with no depth beyond wanting to murder anything that moves?

LOL I guess that's true and good enough reason why they don't want them in their cities.

I have zero interest in giants being a playable race, but it would have been good to converse, my current character will not kill anything unless forced too, it's great to see the giants wandering around and no threat unless you push them, though I did have one quest that required I killed a giant, cannot say I was pleased but it was attacking a farm or something like that.

I talked to a giant once. Or at least, tried to. I ended up inadvertently discovering a new form of fast travel, when my lifeless corpse was propelled violently into an exo-atmospheric ballistic trajectory. I even landed on the banks of the stream by Riverwood. I waited a while, hoping some restoration dabbler would come along and bring me back amongst the living, but all that happened was the woodworker's dog ate part of my foot.
