Can a texture set object be placed by script?

Hey guys I'm trying to place a rune decal texture set by script and it isn't working in game. It complies fine just using a simple place at me function, and I place it initially disabled, set it's angle so the arrow would face down, then enable, but it just isn't showing up in game.

Has anyone been able to achieve this before?

Having looked at the rune spell which places a decal in the projectile object, that relies on the decal INI setting.

I need to place one via script because I need to be able to delete it later, and don't want the game to remove it like a normal rune decal.
