Can I Update Saves Without Using Wrye Flash?

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 10:46 am

I can't seem to get Wrye Flash working properly at the moment. Is there any other utility that can update saved games to accept new mods like Wrye Flash does? Is Wrye Flash not the best option to do this? I don't really know. I've never NOT used Wrye Flash but at this point, I'm curious to know if there's better ways. I currently have FOMM and BOSS installed.

I think you can do it with FO3Edit too.

Hmm. I've never used FO3Edit. I'm a little intimidated by utilities at first. I imagine it might be easy to do once I get the hang of it.

It does the same things that Wrye Flash does, just with more detail.

As for your Wrye Flash, was it working and now it does not, or can you not get it installed again?

Well, it was working in the past with other FO3 games with no problems. Now it's not working properly, even after uninstalling it and installing it again. I must have done this a good handful of times.

Edit: I should probably mention that I haven't actually tried building my Bashed Patch while WB is having these problems. I don't really trust using it if it's not working like it should.

Describe not working properly. Does it not find your mods? Does it not launch?

Have you tried to run the game before you run Wrye Flash so it will know where the game is?

By not working properly, I mean when I click on the Wrye Bash launcher, it loads and a message comes up: "The following mods have unrecognized TES4 header versions: * Bashed Patch, 0.esp". So I click OK and the message goes away, but Wrye Bash looks odd. When minimized, the entire Wrye Bash area is white. All of the symbols that should be on the bottom left (such as BOSS, Mod Checker, etc.) are now on the top left. The numbers of mods I'm currently using versus what I actually have installed is to the right in the middle. When I maximize Wrye Bash, the tabs appear at the top, but there is only a 2-3 inch space showing the mods (when in the Mods tab). I can't enlarge any of these areas, but I can change the size of the entire Wrye Bash console. When I click the X to close WB, I get this error message: "Runtime Error! Program: C:\Python27\pythonw.exe R6025 - pure virtual function call". Then finally, I click OK and I get a "python.exe has stopped working". I checked out my control panel to see what kind of Python I have installed. I saw Python 2.7 comtypes-0.6.2, Python 2.7.3, wxPython 2.8.12.1 (ansi) for Python 2.7 and wxPython 2.9.4.0 for Python 2.7. I should also say that I have this installed for Oblivion and currently I have 3 games going for it, all using Wrye Bash and working fine. I have used this utility several times before with no issues. I have had Oblivion and FO3 installed at the same time, all with Wrye Bash installed, and it was all working fine.

Edit: When I remove the Bashed Patch from the list, it starts but I get a message saying "Mark Mergeable" and it doesn't seem to do much more than sit there. I can still access WB but it still has the issues I mentioned above.

The problem is, Wrye Flash for Fallout 3 is a port of Wrye Bash. For sure, with New Vegas I can't use the program unless I grab a Mopy folder just for these two games. For example, this

http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/11336

Now, to get the most elegant install, I install the Stand Alone for Oblivion/Skyrim to get the Python files and what not, but then I drop this package in the Fallout 3 directory and make a shortcut to that bash exe. Also, I remember that one of these archives was not right, but that may have been updated since I last did an install with this game as I did not have the issue this time around.

You will have to do the same for New Vegas Flash.

Worse comes to worse, for this program, you may have to do a manual install of Python and the other 3 supporting programs, then drop the proper Mopy/Data directory into the root folder.
