Can you adopt children without a bedroom in your home?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:00 am

The bedroom has "child's bed", but it seems no other parts of the house do. I've read that you can build a child's bed in the main hall, but there is no options available on the workbench.

How do I do so if it's possible? I don't want to build another house with a bedroom, but I want children in all of my homes.

Assuming you don't have a small house, in the main room (the one with the large dining room table), on the top floor in the back left corner is a crafting station. You can make two small beds and one double bed. The small beds are for kids.

In addition to beds, though, you also need a container of some kind (I'm assuming it's a dresser, but I've just always decked out the full house).

But as long as you have a free single-space bed and a container with it, you can adopt a kid.

You do not need the west (or east, I forget) wing bedroom to have children in your house, nor to have your own bed (you'll get the double-sized bed automatically).

Otherwise the dialogue option (from what I've read) is something to the effect of "I want to adopt you, but I don't have room right now."

Ah, I've been reading that you need a "Child's bed" and not just a "Single bed" in order for it to work.

I guess I'll make those beds and see what happens. :) Thanks.

You're more than welcome - and they worked in my game. :) One adopted child, picked closest bed to the door upstairs. She consistently went to that one bed, each time I saw her.

They should have provided more beds, where does the houscarl and steward sleep if you adopt a couple of children and do not have the bedroom wing?

They don't sleep.
My steward guards me 24/7 and my bard follows me around and plays menacing melodies when I'm fighting and soft lullabies while I sleep.

Can you adopt children and put them in different houses? What's the limit of total kids you can adopt and if different, how many can you place in any given home?

Well I made those beds on the upper floor but I still cannot adopt anymore children. Are you only allowed 2 in one home, and that's it? I was hoping I can get 2 in every home.
