Can you attack under water? If so, how?

Title says it all.

I was chased by a slaughterfish before, but I couldn't draw any weapon or spell under water. Is it even possible to attack under water?

Doesn't seem like it.. (At least in my experience)
I was trying to pull out my bow to get rid of a glitched elk at the bottom of the lake. :P

You can't attack understand. It's pretty lame.

You can shoot arrows from the surface into the water, though.

Spells... Not so sure. It's probably like Oblivion where you can't but I didn't think to test if it was any different.

This svcks big time if that's true. I mean, why the heck do they add slaughterfish that attacks you, if you can't even attack back!

While I'm at it, the underwater looks crappy like hell...
Even worse that Oblivion.

On touch spells used to work underwater in Oblivion but since we don't have any on touch spells in Skyrim I'm not sure about this.

The best way to kill slaughterfish I've found is to get them to chase you to the shallows where you can pull weapons and kill them there. svcks not being able to attack them underwater at all, but you can pretty much always outswim them, which is kinda weird given that they are fish and you aren't. Also Lydia seem to be capable of some serious archery fishing. She killed 4 of the things from shore while I was swimming around trying to get them to follow me.

H2H should at least work underwater. How are we meant to punch a Giant Slaughter Fish in the nose otherwise? :ahhh:
