Can you be friends of the thalmor?

Post » Wed Jan 08, 2014 6:59 am

So I started a High elf mage the other day and I really want to RP the crap out of the whole thalmor act. Every stormcloak I come across. Dead. Heimskir (Talos Priest in Whiterun). Dead. But the only thing that hasn't worked out on me being "apart" of the thalmor is that they all seem to hate me when I talk to them. I know I can't join them, but is there like a quest where I can gain their trust and respect or something? Like, if I did said quest, they would atleast be able to talk to me without being rude?? After all, I'm pretty much one of them... :D

Also, is there like a home- base for them or something? I know about the Thalmor Embassy (from the main quest) but it's locked until you do that part of the MQ, and after it's locked too. Any other buildings?

No, you cannot be friends of the Thalmor. They wouldn't want you to live with them.

Best to kill them and loot them of their supplies to sell to Belethor in Whiterun.

They do not have any friendly dialogue that I know of. Except the one in Markarth. But that's only if you do his favor.

Thans. Kinda thought I would run into a quest like that by know, but you never know. For roleplaying purposes, I'm not gonna slaughter them all (haha HeroofKvatch99) But thanks for the nice idea :D lol.

Not trying to tell you how to play your game but...if i were you, i wouldn't align myself with the Thalmor...years of wanting to join the Outcasts from fallout 3 has taught me that it's better to just kill them than join them. :P

You can do a radiant quest for Ondolemar in finding evidence of a Talos worshipper, in return you receive gold and he is able to trust you.

NO THEY ARE NOT. NO.

completely different group with nothing to do with each other than name.

The Aldmeri Dominion in ESO is a Group that wants peace and is only fighting because they belive humans have lost the right to rule the ruby throne (AND they are right considering The 2nd era empire is basically under the control of Bal) and to stop Molag Bal.

Oh... I thought the thalmor were playable. Have you played the beta or something? I'm trying to cut myself off from any of the eso news because I want it all to be new and surprising when I actually play... (you can answer my question though.. Lol)

part of the now known story/gameplay, nothing to do with playing the game (which would be breaking NDA). There is a somewhat insane group called the Thalmor who sort of guard/semi-govern the ocean side border of Valenwood,, but not only does everyone, even most Altmer, hate them, they are more about just trying to force Aldmeri culture down the Bosmer's and Khajiits throats. There is a map on the ESO website that has info about this and some of it is from another language version of the website that someone founf when they translated the info from it.

It's absurd that you can't say that you don't worship Talos upon being questioned by them.

You can't join the Thalmor for the same reason that you can't become a bandit. The Thalmor are just typical antagonists.

If you RP it then yea but in game...nope.

There is that one quest in markath for the thalmor dude, he even treats you nice if you finish his quest..in a thalmor way.

The first Aldmeri dominion is playable, not the third and the thalmor.

Yeah, but just to be clear to everyone who is sayng that the thalmor are basically bandits and are horrible, I have never liked the Thalmor (I don't think that Bethesda really intends on you liking them, too), but I was just playing a high elf. Just Role playing... I'm usually a Dunmer (Go Dark elves!!) and I don't think that dark elves are typically thalmor (even thought they are elves). The Dunmer are usually the guys who are beat up on by the nords and other "superior" races (like high elves)... Just wanted to make that clear... :)

There is a Thalmor barracks(? Not sure of the term, can't remember what it's called in game.) In Solitude. It's a big tower near Castle Dour and is enterable and the lowest level has two useable beds (not owned). I have no idea if it's usually inhabited though as when I went there it was empty, but it may be frequented and I just happened to go in when they weren't there.

If you go to the Imperial Legion training area in the courtyard of Castle Dour, then look up above the archery dummies, there should be a tower. As far as I remember, that's the place.

The Dark Elves have NOTHING to do with the Thalmor. The ONLY race that the Thalmor have are Altmer. And, sort of, Dark elves ARE outcasts, but not to that extent. Go play Morrowind if you want to really learn about the Dunmer (and, for that matter, the Imperials and Nords)

Morrowind was actually my first TES game, but I played it when I was like 10 and didn't really focus on lore at that age :). I kinda knew that the thalmor was just altmer, but the only thing that threw me off was when Ulfric says Why does an elf want to join the Stormcloaks?. Made it sound like I was in league with ththalmor or something...

No, he just does not like elves in general.

You should go back and play Morrowind, it was the first game to really set up the lore of Nirn and truly shows off the culture of the Imperials, Nords (if you have Bloodmoon), and Dunmer

a different group named the Thalmor did though. Though, as i said above, they were fairly screwed up and no one liked them, but they were no where NEAR as bad as the 4th era Thalmor.

I started an Altmer mage character at the weekend, it's my first outing as an Altmer as I've never wanted to play one before because I thought I would feel like a Thalmor member for some reason. Glad I did go for it as he's really coming together well. Still can't seem to put up with the Thalmor though and the one I really dislike is Ancano from the COW. Looking forward to taking him down as always. In answer to the OP's question, no I don't think it possible to be friends with the Thalmor. Well not for my characters anyway.

If you're on PC then there is a Mod for the PC(Player character) to join the thalmor (Altmer, Bosmer and cats only though).
