Can you just shut up?

So Skyrim is not an RPG because it's not like Morrowind? Do I really need to take you seriously? Skyrim is still a stand alone game, even though it's TES. That doesn't mean you have to whine about it not being Morrowind 2. I can't even have good reads around this forum because some of the guys here drowned in nostalgia and completely forget how awesome Skyrim is. SKYRIM won't ever be Morrowind 2, get over it.

I played Morrowind, and I think the reason why it is better is because of the story.

The story of how the blight is getting stronger, and the tribunal of Vivec and Co are getting weaker, while Dagoth Ur is getting stronger. There is this sense of urgency, what will happen if the ghost gate fails?
When I reached the outer wall of the ghost gate that is containing the blight, I saw a few blight monsters at the outer edges, implying that some of them escaped the ghostgate. I hastily dispatched them, eventhough there is no radiant AI and they won't go to towns to kill people. But the story made it seem like they would, and I felt obliged to kill them.

The story of how you are the Nerevar reborn, and the mystery of what happened to you at Red Mountain. Were you betrayed? How did you die? There are conflicting stories between Vivec, and Dagoth Ur himself. Who is telling the truth?

Of course there is the mystery of the Disappearance of the Dwarves. Very strong mystery, that I kept asking about what happened to them until a few weeks ago.

So the story from Morrowind was stronger.

This isn't going to change anything. Although from a traditional RPG point of view Morrowind was definitely more of a traditional RPG. But that doesn't mean Skyrim isn't just as good or better in other regards.

Sometimes you gotta let it out.

It's not like every other thread is complaining about the complaining.

OP have a thread that your directing such too?

I never preferred MW so I am not one of those who are OMG BEST TES EVAH but it did have decent game mechanics overall that would be great in Skyrim. Of course I guess when someone suggests an mechanic from a previous title people such as you go OMG THIS NOT x 2.0!!! Like locational damage missing from Skyrim but was in FO3 even though Skyrim is not a FPS as much as FO3 was it would benefit the game by having it in it so you can have various effects and more tactical way of fighting at close and long ranges. But yes that would make it FO3 2.0 wouldn't it?

Another one I would very much like to see is a map like Daggerfall or MW or Oblivion not the current fancy 3D map with Todd's UAV available at any time but again I am trying to make a previous come back into the current one and just want a copy of the same game + a new story correct? Well sorry but I don't I want a new game with the best from all sides not just one or two and then completely broken unbalanced and totally overpowering that we find in Skyrim today. Yes I could not "abuse" it (use such content at all) and just count on Role playing to be the balance of my game!!!

Im use to that since I was hardest in BF3 forums prior to its release about various in game mechanics either it be commander, jets, prone, 6 man squads, and even mod tools and received such from people.

Then you simply love graphics over gameplay. Morrowind is the best TES game ever made by far, it set the standard. Oblivion couldn't touch it, and Skyrim is nowhere close.

The feeling of first playing Morrowind and being immersed in such an atmosphere will never be able to be reproduced. Morrowind is the reason why I continue to play TES games.

Obviously Skyrim is better. But Morrowind's story was probably much much better. I honestly have only played Oblivion and Skyrim, and the stories were both mediocre. It's the open world that makes it so great.

I just don't know why Bethesda spent god knows how much money on the sound track for this game, but who are the writers...? Don't you think we should know that... Or care.

I do agree that there's a lot of people in this forum constantly talking about how much better Morrowind is.

Morrowind's character development isn't for everyone that's for sure, it was far more advanced than Skyrim is. Personally I loved the customization in Morrowind much more, but that's just me. Oh... and also having absolute free will. And by absolute, I mean, absolute. You could even kill Vivec if you wished to.

Character development? As in your own or the NPCs? Because I felt like there was neither. I never beat Morrowind and played the hell out of Oblivion but I did manage to get 150+ hours into Morrowind just before Skyrim's release. Morrowind was older but it felt more believable to me despite its outdated graphics and gameplay. It had true character development. I felt like the characters in it were more real than the ones in Skyrim. All the Skyrim NPCs feel copy pasted...

Where whether or not they are better games are concerned... There are no facts. There are only opinions. Some people prefer Morrowind. Some prefer Oblivion. Some prefer Skyrim. That is not likely to change much and neither will peoples opinions.

to those saying morrowind's story is better, all those years ago when it first came out and I got it, I wasn't even sure there was a story. Heck, even now after owning it for over 6 years I still haven't delivered the letter to Caius Cosades. Skyrim has a better sense of story, despite all its other flaws.

Well, to be entirely honest, I love them both equally, but yeah.. Morrowind was more :o at first because, to me, it was the first RPG that was amazing... so nostalgia goggles

I mean, given the choice I'd remake Oblivion and Morrowind with Skyrim's engine, and play all three

Actually, I'd remake Daggerfall too. Game was cool for being a majority of dungeon crawling lol

Morrowind is A LOT better, but mostly because it has Bloodmoon, Tribunal and a virtually inexhaustible supply of spectacular mods. I think when the modding community gets the tools it needs Skyrim will be unbeatable though, even the old school Bauldur Gaters will have to rearrange their top 5 in a couple of years.

I don't understand why you bothered creating this thread. I see fewer comments now about Skyrim not living up to Morrowind. Maybe if you didn't have people complaining about people complaining about the Skyrim/Morrowind disconnect, there would be even fewer comments about it. But then, you obviously aren't actually exasperated with those comments or you wouldn't have created this thread.

Agreed to an extent, Daggerfall is way to outdated at this point in time, I did enjoy it though. Second to Morrowind.

I don't know, especially judging from THE been-there-done-that-a-million-times clique of an RPG story and drama posted earlier lol. I haven't played Morrowind, but I really care less about story in games as long as it's good enough to provide some background and atmosphere. There are much better things about TES games than the narrative. Games that get rave reviews for the story writing usually bore me to tears, are more like watching a movie than playing a game, and are usually all of the same premise.
