Can you play as a mage and warrior at the same time?

My main character is a 100% warrior who fights with a sword and shield, and wears heavy armor at all times. But I find this playstyle to get more boring the more I play it. So I would like to know if I could make a new character and make it a warrior/mage? What skills should I train, then? And how should my character be in general? Thanks.

I think you could always just start using magic. I guess it depends on how high you are I guess. I suspect you'd level up quickly.A battlemage uses heavy armor and magic (that's me) so that seens a natural progression to me. You'd probably want destruction magic and conjuration maybe and some restoration? I'm only at 18th level at the moment but that seems doable to me.

You are looking for a spellsword, yes?

Core skills would be:

- Heavy/Light Armour [ Depends on your preference and Conjuration for summoning meatbags and/or companions. ]
- One-Handed
- Destruction
- Restoration
- Conjuration [ Optional ]

I am not fond of the other classes so much but I heard Illusion can be good.

I played something like this and I mostly concentrated on one-handed and destruction. Added some points in restoration so I can get a dual cast on healing as well. As for armor I went heavy and had no major problems(except for some stronger spell casters).
