Can you play this on Windows 7?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:53 pm

I already own the GOTY edition for 360 and enjoy it still but after beating the full game and the ONLY game I have 100% on for achivements (Idk why this is XD) I want to try out this Mod stuff, I have never used Mods before but am interested in trying some out that look interesting so I have a few questions.

1.Can I play this on Windows 7 without any confuzing downloads?
2.Are mods hard to install for a PC nerd like me?
3.Where do I find the mods...
4.Not a question but Answer: Thank you for the time and taken the time to read this.

It works perfectly on Win 7, no extra steps needed, even for a 64 bit version. Just the normal patches, or get the Steam version that patches it for you.

As for mods, they can be confusing at first, but this forums has a whole section dedicated to them where you can ask help, wand there are many helpful tools to get them up and running. Most popular mod site is the http://www.tesnexus.com/ that has thousands of different mods, think what you would want to change on unmodded game, and more likely than not a mod for it exists :D

Don't you have to install it in a different location than the game wants though? I don't have Win 7 yet, but I think I remember reading that?

I thought you had to like put mods in some other folder or something right? If I got the disc verison were would I find the mods?

I have some certain things I want to look up there but don't know how, like I want some diffrent hair that I have seen and able to become a werewolf, I know there are mods like that but so far I haven't seen them on the site...
I am such a noob:( Sorry

Put mod in the Oblivion/Data directory. Think its a good idea to read this if this is ya first time handling mods:

I think this applies: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Oblivion_Mods_FAQ#Mods_on_Windows_Vista

Installing mods on a Windows Vista system is bit trickier than it is on Windows XP due to Vista's increased security.

For best results, it is recommended to install Oblivion to a location other than the default C:\Program Files\ folder. Another location such as C:\Oblivion\ or D:\games\Oblivion\ will work better. This will avoid the file permission problems many users have experienced due to the increased security restrictions Vista places on the Program Files folder.
