Can You Please Recommend Me Survival Horror/Scary Games

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:40 pm

I love scary games. I already have Condemned: Criminal Origins (which is my favorite), as well as its not too scary sequel. My friend is also letting me borrow the first Dead Space soon. So, can you please recommend me some games that'll make me jump and be creeped the hell out?

Also, is "Silent Hill: Homecoming" worth buying if looking for a game to get scared from?

Thanks!

dead space one has its share of scary moments.
singularity is more action/fps, but it too has a couple of scary scenes along with a good storyline

I've played the FEARs. Well, one of them (I forget which one) but I borrowed it from my friend and it wasn't scary at all (in my opinion).

Silent Hill Homecoming is scary. I got about an hour in and I dont think I wanna finish it. Not my type of game, although might change my mind later on.

You could check out Deadly Premonition, I haven't personally played it but I've heard decent things from other players. The critics weren't too fond of the game due to it's not so great graphics, but it's supposed to have a pretty decent story. I've not played many games on the 360 that can live up to Condemned's scare factor, but Silent Hill should be a pretty good choice.

EDIT: http://www.destructoid.com/review-deadly-premonition-165168.phtml is a rather comedic review of Deadly Premonition, the overall consensus is that the game has a lot of flaws, but in the end it's actually pretty good.

amnesia the dark descent made me crap myself, just saying :whistling:

Was a great experience and a great game, not for combat though.

Definately this, if you have enough pants left and don't need to fight in every game.
But its very stressful. I've never experienced a game like this, but it really triggered my survival instincts :).

Maybe you like Doom 3. Unfortunately, the scary moments are because enemies appear somewhere out of nothing <- I personally hate that, but the atmosphere is good.
Fear is more creepy, much more my taste.

I loved Deadly Premonition. It felt like a bad B-movie, which made the game all the better. For the most part, it's a funny game, but there are some genuinely creepy parts of the game.

I feel like this is the third thread in two days where I'm posting this in, but Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is the scariest game I've played. Especially the first half or so, when you don't have any guns yet. Or the later parts, when you face enemies against whom guns are useless. Helps to add to the feeling of helplessness. Don't know if you can play it on the 360 though.

I'm pretty sure Dark Corners of the Earth is one of the games that Xbox 360 is backwards-compatible with.

Hmmm. I've always thought it looked interesting but never knew it was a horror-esque game. I'll check it out! And it doesn't matter if it's compatible or not because I have my original Xbox still hooked up too haha

I'd most definitely recommend it, it's a great game. I actually might play through it again, since it's been a long time since the last time I played it.
