Prone is laying down on your belly, not turning into a bot for part of a match.

I've never seen a system like what you're talking about in a game. Could you give some examples of game that feature this so I have a clue?

Left 4 Dead had that feature. If you didn't do anything for long enough your guy would be taken over by the AI. Pretty handy in case you have to use the bathroom or something. And wait...didn't I hear that they were doing something like that in Brink too?

Who needs prone you can just wall jump or slide into cover.
