Can you write better than the current makers of Fallout?

Problem with yours Fatt is that you forced a back-story on the PC, which is generally something you try to avoid when making a RPG. I'm actually writing a sort of a collection of ideas on how a RPG should be designed, and one of the examples I use is the "in a tavern" cliche that a lot of DnD RPs use. It starts the PC off "in a tavern", with no reason why the PC is in the tavern, and then something happens which fuels the RP story. There are no assumptions on who or what the PC is, or why the PC is there, or even how the PC got there, just that he is there. It works perfectly, because then the RPer has an opportunity to come up with an elaborate back-story that will fuel the PCs motivations. Another excellent example is NV's story.

Are you talking about mine? How am i forcing a backstory? Im not angry, i just cant see how i am...

Burgh, 'Stone' Cole is pretty much the story I would write if I made a fallout game, or at least it would be veeeeery similar. (Is in mah signature if you'd wanna see what it's like.)

that might take a while. it took me forever to find everything out about fallout 1 on the vault. however, finding the story was pretty fast...

Well, you don't get the boxes from GOG either, but GOG gives everything completely DRM free and with accessories unlike Steam. Support GOG, the way digital distribution should be handled. [/commercial speech] :D

Oh, alright :) Well, I don't care as long as I get to play the game, and don't lose it somewhere. Good thing with Steam is that I will always have all my games I own in my game list, installed or not, and I can install them on any computer I want where ever I am. Although I do think it's cooler to have the box, to look at in the future, read the manual and show friends but... I've gotten lazy with the times, ever since I got Steam and, well, moved to a rural area. CBA.
