Canada Day

Post » Wed Jul 02, 2014 10:53 am

Happy Canada day to all the Canadians here on the BGSF. This marks the beginning for more awkwardly placed Canada days in the years to come until Canada Day naturally falls on the Friday again.

So who had to work yesterday? Who took the day off?

And Non-Canadian BGSF members, have you been to Canada? Where would you like to visit? What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Canada?

As for your questions, never been there and don't know much about Canada really. From what I hear they're friendly.

One must visit the west coast when coming to Canada!! Normally, the only snow here is in the mountains, where it should be! :P But we do have the odd drop from time to time. I had enough of snow growing up in Ontario. I much prefer the wet coast where I can cycle year round! :)

I haven't been to Canada, oddly enough. I've been to lots of countries, but not the one that I live the closest to for some reason. I'd love to visit some places there...preferably a variety. Any recommendations?

Happy Canada Day, Canadians!

I'd say like B.C. area. I live in Ontario and wouldn't recommend anything other than maybe the southern part.

As someone who has lived all over this great nation, I recommend the weat coast first.
Vancouver is a great city to see.

And of course the Canadian culture hubs of Toronto and Montreal are worth visitng anytime of the year.
Not much going on in the praries for the avergae vacation.

Here's to 147 years! :celebration:

I would also say, if one where to visit on Canada Day, nobody throws a party on Canada Day like Ottawa! (As one would expect being the nations capital.) I have some great memories of Canada Day in Ottawa.

Cottage country in Ontario is also a must see in my opinion. I loved, and miss our cottage. :( So many great memories of fishing on the lake, catching water snakes, and exploring the woods around the cottage as a kid. Ah, memories.

Happy Canada Day. The only place I've been relatively recently has been Niagara Falls, but back in the 60's i made it to Vancouver, North Bay, Ontario, Bagotville, Quebec, Goose Bay Labrador and Argentia, Newfoundland...and I'd go back to Vancouver. :P

Some provinces still have liquor stores run by the province, but from what I know even those provinces still have privately owned beer stores (no hard liquor) as well as off sales from bars.
Most provinces have private liquor stores everywhere now, so it's business as usual in most places.
