I am a Canadian with a US copy

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 8:18 am

Help?

Last night I downloaded DLC dead money for the PS3, there was only one option the enlgish/french one. So that is what I clicked on to download thinking it work. (was excited and did read about how it wasnt compatible with the copy I have. I have issue blus-30500 the US copy But I live in Canada, and when we go to purchase the DLC it only gave us an option to download the french/english one NOT just the english one (that I read from other forums is the one thats compatible with the US version)

I realize that I have to ask for a refund, but not sure who to call? Which sony's number would be the easiest?

Also, how can I get the option to download the US version of the DLC in Canada? I read that they had it up, but removed it from the PSN store. Which I am guessing in the Canadian PSN store cause I dont have the US option.

I am super excited about this add-on and so eager to play it.

Anyone have any idea on how this sad Canadian Fallout fan with a US copy get this add on?

I have the same issue. I purchased the Collector's Edition from my local EB Games in Ottawa, Ontario, and I guess it was the US version with product code 30500. I believe they removed this from the Canadian PSN store because they thought people would get confused, but hopefully they realize that legitimate purchasers of their game are suffering.

I hear Sony's been pretty good about issuing refunds if you call them. I've exchanged something like 7 emails with Bethesda tech support, and they simply refuse to inform someone responsible about what's happening. Their "solutions" were to exchange the game, or to simply live with the fact that the US version won't be made available on the Canadian PSN store. Haven't heard back from the email I've sent Sony yet.

Same here, bought the collectors edition, played like crazy, got excited about the dlc, got let down that it was released X360 first and now ultra upset about having a DLC pack that I can't use and no possibility of downloading the right one... Is it really that impossible just to offer the us dlc pack on the canadian psn FOR THOSE WHO WANT IT AND WILL PAY FOR IT!?

Yep this is what happened to me and i called Sony and they told me they will not be putting the US add-on on the Canadian PSN and i and still freaking mad about it in a email i got this reply from Sony.

"I apologize for any inconvenience that you may be having with the add-on content for Fallout New Vegas. I understand this can be frustrating. Unfortunately, many content is region coded. This is something the game publishers do it is out of our hands to determine what content is released on the Playstation?Store. In this case you may need to create a U.S. PlayStation?Network account or purchase the Canadian version of the game disc."

Regards,
E.M

now one problem for us to use the U.S. PlayStation?Network we would have to move to the U.S and i am not going to spend more money for another copy of the game and even if i did i would not be able to use my save files.

&

CANADIAN BILINGUAL VERSION - WARNING MUST HAVE BLUS 30626

I also wish that the customer service for both Bethesda and Sony would be a lot better. Bethesda's tech support says it's a Sony issue and refuses to try to inform anyone who may be responsible for working with Sony. Sony's tech support claims they aren't responsible for what happens with the PSN store. Fine, I understand that, but since I can't contact those responsible for PSN directly, I would hope they could at least pass on the word, but no. Anyways, by this point, you would think those who could affect some change are aware of the situation. The reason they don't is baffling. I don't buy the "region restriction" that both Bethesda and Sony have implied for three reasons: (1) the content was originally available then pulled to avoid confusion due to the poor description of the bilingual version; (2) my game box states "licensed for distribution in North America" so if I have it in Canada why should I be punished; and (3) Bethesda was the one shipping these to Canadian retailers!

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1168737-attn-to-those-in-canada/

If you have the Canadian release of New Vegas (Blus 30626), purchase the "French" version of Dead Money -- this includes both French and English language tracks. This is similar to how the pre-order DLC worked.

If you have the US version (Blus 30500) of New Vegas, select the English version for Dead Money.

To find out the BLUS code, look at the spine of your game case.

Update: On the PSN store in Canada, you should now only see an option for "English/French."

They know many of us up here have the US version, it's right in this quote. Maybe if they won't put back up both versions of DLC, they'll send replacement Canadian discs that we were all supposed to have. :flamethrower: Some of us will also need to exchange our copies of Dead Money so we can play it with our new game discs.

The reason I listed the US version is because we oftentimes have folks purchasing the game in neighboring countries.

I've been out of the office all week, but earlier this week, it was brought to my attention that folks that bought the CE have the US Blus code. We're looking into a solution for this on PSN and will report back when we have more information.

I hope things would work out because this DLC might end up costing us more than intended. I mean not only for us, the players, but also for the canadian stores that might have to deal with that issues as well. I was discussing that whole DLC issues with the employees from a EB Games store and they couldn't believe it that Sony wouldn't carry *both* version of the DLC. Especially since the game data can't be transferred from a version to another. It's not only about re-buying the game, it's also about starting again from the very beginning. Especially when gamers like me are taking pride into creating what's for us would be the most badass Courier ever.

Even with all the freezing issues and bugs, I always come back to play New Vegas. Bethesda did an amazing job on that game and I don't want my gaming experience ruined because Sony refuse to release the US version of the DLC for the Canadian store.

I can't see it being that hard of a solution since it was already up on the PSN (I bought it on release day). Why did Sony take this one down yet they left both versions up for all the Fallout 3 DLC? Lots of people downloaded the wrong version then too IIRC. Serves us right for paying more to get the CE. I'm sure it will all be resolved soon.

I was lucky enough to buy the US version of the DLC when it came out, but it has been removed from my download list and I won't be able re-download it if I was ever to lose all my data on my PS3. And it's not only about the Collector's Edition. Many stores in Canada are selling regular edition of the US game. I don't even own the Collector's Edition and yet, my copy of the game is a US version.
