Yeah I know that [censored] lol
I didn't know it was a magazine scan chiefy :P

Ok, "boss-man." :P

Wasn't trying to be a jerk...I didn't know you didn't know it was a magazine and it was faster to post a link than to say the same thing the liked page says. :D

It's hard to explain.
Look at Fallout 1, none of it's places were as over the top as Repcon is.
Fallout 1 is the original.
So something about Repcon just rubs me the wrong way.

So it may fit in the setting it may be perfectly written but as long as it wasn't in Fallout 1 its bad.

Superior Logic at work. :tops:

Fair enough. I mean, I bought/played/loved the original when it was released too, but that doesn't mean it can't be expanded-upon. It would be pretty limiting if we had to only stick to conventions that were established in Fallout 1. It's many years later, after all. I'm actually surprised that the post-apoc world isn't filled with more delusional religious cults...seems like ideal conditions for it.

Anyway, if it feels wrong to you then I respect that. Feels ok to me.

Well I'm actually trying to be skeptical about everything in New Vegas.
So who knows, Repcon might surprise me.
If it does, great.
If not then I don't have to be disappointed. ;)

Okay... Fallout 1 had a more darker tone than it's sequels.
Repcon, is anything but dark. At first glance it's more of an amusemant park.

That's what I meant.

So, your argument is based solely on a viewpoint you have that is based on your own perception of an aesthetic that is highly debatable?

Your realizing that it is the same argument that Fallout 3 players have when they want every Fallout to play in a desolate wasteland that looks like its 20 years after the war?

I also don't see the amusment parc aspect of Repconn but,.... well I guess opinion. I would never amuse myself near a group of fanatic ghouls led by a crazy scientist though.

Anyway, I respect your opinion. And I can see where you're coming from so I guess I can understand.

wait boone give's you this quest. thats odd. i wonder what he has to do with repcon.

i assumed his mission would be to save his wife from the slavers

anyway. this makes new vegas sound really promising. i hope bethesda lets obsidian make more games in the fallout series after this

I think you have to save his wife first to get get him as a companion, then I guess he gives you this quest...
also Boone may know that ghoul sniper at Repcon and has some bussiness with him =/

Does Arena feels anything like Oblivion? Nope. Game series evolve man, like you earlier said about characters, let it go

It's more or less blurry, but it's said that the final goal of the cultists is to find death. I do agree that ghouls in space suits and rockets are cheezy. But their motivation is much more darker than we can think.

Hmm, I really need to get off Repcons back at least until I've played New Vegas.

Characters and games is not the same thing, but yes series evolve.
But if a series go too far off the path it'll fall into the abyss and the franchise has evolved into a pile of [censored] in a lot of original fans' eye's. ;)

For people confused about Boone's quest, I am pretty sure they said he has like 5. Also, if he does give you this quest, it seems like he's kind of a jerk if he wants you to kill a population of friendly ghouls. I guess we'll see. If it's not an error, then I wonder what his reasoning will be.

As far as the game is concerned, the depth, by all appearances, seems to be there. I'm just surprised it has taken this long for a magazine to properly explore that depth. Then again, if I heard right, they did get 4 hours with the game, which is far more than most.

It's not really that surprising considering gaming journalism today. It was equally hard to find something *substantial* when Fallout 3 came around, most previews felt like they just copied a features list off some PR sheet somewhere and added a healthy dose of "omg its awesome" to the mix.
The best previews were really NMA's (probably a bit too neutral for many people in tone but quite easily the most informative) and, yep, CanardPC's.

It's true. I remember G4's coverage of Fallout 3's release. *shudders* It was mostly a lot of Adam Sessler asking the guy playing to blow something up, and then him and his cronies going "ooooooooooooooooh!" when someone's head came off. Questions about awesum gunz n' 'splosions followed.

That sounds hilarious. Who wouldn't want to fly into space to escape a nuclear devastated planets. I'd love to be able to help them succeed in leaving the atmosphere, however temporary that may end up being.... Makes me think of the chapter in The Road, where the boy asks Poppa if there are crows in space...

If every quest(or at least most) has multiple ways to finish it, I'll be replaying this game quite a bit.

Say, were there any new screens in that magazine, or just old ones?

Also, great stuff. I'm really looking forward to this.

Sounds awesome.

Also, it's interesting that the ghouls think they can survive in space, but humans can't. If it's true, does that mean that in addition to Bethesda's decision in Broken Steel to give ghouls no body temperature, Obsidian's decided they also don't breathe? (And can somehow not explode in the vacuum of space)

I guess all those people calling them zombies weren't far off.

Wait, ghouls have no body temperature in broken steel? I think I remember that, but where did you find that out? Did the computer say that?

And if they didn't breathe, they should actually be alright for a period of time. Vacuums don't work like they do in the movies. *points at total recall*.

I'm pretty sure the Ghouls were talking about the massive amounts of radiation. That's probably why humans can't go with them. Ghouls breathe like everyone else. Maybe they'll even remember to bring an oxygen supply so they'll survive, unlike the Hubologists.
