I have 2 problems with 2 different quests with the same type of problem.

1) The Numbers Job - Changing the books at Haelga's Bunkhouse. The problem with this quest is the book I need to change is in a bedroom and when I look at it says to hit E key to change the numbers. Well that does not work. The arrow marker is in-between the floors. I do not get the notification to hit the E key when I stand below the arrow marker on the main level, nor when I stand above it in a store room on the top level..

2) Miscellaneous Quest - Ask Aldis for information about Angeline's daughter. I go to Solitude and the castle to track the person down. He is stuck in a wall.
I have used the clairvoyance spell to track him down.
In the front door, turn right, down half the stairs and left into the wall.


Any help?

PC or console?

Assuming PC since OP mentions using the "E key."

This may be a known bug. If the Stormcloaks have taken over Solitude, Captain Aldis is disabled, which leaves two quests he's required for unfinishable. He's an Imperial Captain though so I'm not sure what effect re-enabling him would have.

Edit: Also plenty of people on the PC play with a 360 controller.

Could wait for the cells to reset..... (about three days I think...) Or, use console commands to place the items in question where you can actually reach them....

Say to Delvin that you can't do this one and get a new one.

Use TCL to get him in your vision, click on him, get to somewhere stable and use moveto player. This moves him to you, out of the wall. Enable/disable might help too.
