Cannot Continue at End Of GAME!

Post » Fri Jul 16, 2010 7:02 am

I am posting this in this as a software issue because it is completely messed up that in fallout new vegas RIGHT BEFORE THE GAME ENDS you get a bunch of cool stuff and then 5 minutes later the game "COMPLETELY ENDS" fallout 3 you got to keep your stuff and continue playing QUEST COMPLETED and starts you back in town, that is one of the main reasons that fallout 3 is by far one of my favorite games because it does not officially END. Back on subject what was the thought process behind the MASSIVE!!!!!!!!!!! teaser you put at the end of the game. everyone i have talked to who has gotten that far or not thinks that it is a total LOAD that that happens. Yall need to do an update immediately to fix this game killing, rep smashing problem.

P.s. story line good game play good. ending the game at end beyond failure.

Thank you.

Dude, what Vault did you just crawl out of? Obsidian announced MONTHS ago that there would be no open ending to FNV at launch. NCR_Ranger is also right in that FO3 had a closed ending until Broken Steel was lanched a few months after the game itself launched. So, I'm guessing you didn't get FO3 until the GOTY edition came out and you used the second disc right away? The ending is no glitch and was purposly written that way. As for Rex, that sounds like a glitch or he's dead somewhere.

Also, how fast did you play the game?!?!?! Did you even stop to sleep or eat? Or even do ANY exploring or sidequests?

Once again, if you had been paying attention, Obsidian said they would be giving the game a closed ending as they felt leaving a game ending open was cheating. After all, both Fallout 1 and 2 both had definitive endings and this game was made by many of the people that worked on FO2. I say if they want to make their game end the way they want to, so be it! If you don't like it, don't buy it in the first place! Don't complain after you buy it and finish it that the developers "cheated" you by bringing the game to a final end and not letting you run around trying to wrap things up AFTER the story is over.

Think about it this way, what if this was a movie? Would you want to be stuck forever in a theater just because one or two of the people in the theater wanted to keep it going forever and ever with the same characters?

If you don't like the ending, play it again in a different way! As I've stated TWICE now, Obsidian stated MONTHS ago they would be doing this, so you can't say you weren't warned and complain about it now! GET OVER IT!

Think about it this way, what if this was a movie?

First off NOT A MOVIE!!! VIDEO GAMES AND MOVIES WHOLE DIFFERENT BALL PARK DUDE.

SECOND they should have realized BY NOW that in 3 that was the biggest hit screw the add ons extra missions and new weapons in comparison to the fact that you can continue playing the game

THIRD the continue playing uped the replay value 500% (made the game worth the $$$$$$)

FOURTH dont tell anyone to "GET OVER IT" because i guarantee that 90% of the people (the people who dont follow every waking update on the game 2 years in advance to it coming out) expected it to continue playing which is a big hit on the wtf did i buy this for i should have rented it FACTOR (DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU CANNOT KEEP PLAYING)

SO.....! I Digress, they should (if they are smart) make an update and or add on FIXING this mega mondo super blow to the worth of this game

Honestly, I felt cheated by Broken Steel. I liked the feeling that by my actions I left the world better than the way I came into it and let it progress all on its own without my further assistance and then they throw it all away by basically turning around and going "PSYCH!!!" and going back and saying, "um, yeah... we didn't mean that... you still have more crap to do..." Also, with sooooo many different ways the story can end with this one and the many different factions involved, I'm thinking its pretty much going to be impossible to crack open the ending and let you continue to wander the wastes after it ends.

Also, with FO3, you could do pretty much every single quest in the game almost no matter what (the "almost" is because you could kill off the starter character and not get the quest) before you finish all the story missions. And every thing but Eagle Rock was always accessible throughout the game unless you went and blew up something (say....Megaton?) and all enmity went away after 72 hours unless you torqued-off the slavers.

Personally, I kind of felt that after Broken Steel was released for F3 that it diminished from the impact of the ending, especially when you consider that it was only then that they gave you the option to send Fawkes into the control room instead of you or Lyons. I don't understand why people are upset that a game has a definitive ending; I'd feel more cheated if there wasn't some closure in the storyline, personally, but maybe that's just me.

In any case, this is by no means a software 'bug' - this was a conscious design choice that you by no means should have been unaware of if you'd been paying attention. To say that a game defied your expectations when you, by your own admittance, had none going into it since you "didn't follow every update" before the game's release, is grossly unfair to the people who put the time and effort into designing it.

Why did you put this under "Issues".
Your game is working as the developer intended.

I can't remember if Fallout 1 did, but I know that you could keep playing Fallout 2 after the credits.

I'm fine either way.

I wasn't to keen on hearing the game ended, especially after the uproar it caused in FO:3

I'm in the start town still, so I have no idea how the game progresses or ends, but I sure would like a post game ending DLC like broken steele.

Um, yeah. That's kinda the point. When FO3 was released ppl were NOT happy about the game ending at the end of the main story quest. So it was fixed in the Broken Steel DLC. Why then, would you MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE in the new game??? If ppl wanted to keep exploring last time, they want to do it again! So what the hell are YOU smoking?

They did it in this one too because they saw that people would pay more for that feature if you just add some DLC with it. Just another way to make more money. I could go on for hours about how these companies put out these glitchy games that need lots of patches and DLC when they should have just bumped the date back a month or so and released a better not so glitchy game in the first place. This game has more glitches then the entire call of duty series! Highly disappointed so far.....will have to see how the patch(s) work out.....when they come out.....

Bethesda GAME STUDIOS made fallout 3
Obsidian made fallout new vegas
both were published by Bethesda Softworks

obsidian said they were going to END the game and you CAN NOT continue afterwards

and that they would warn you to have a save prior to that time

now rockstar did it right
in red dead redemption
they did end it, but also did not end it
they finalized the story, but you could continue with a different character
great story and great music as well
ps no glitches in red dead, at least i had none
and the biggest world map out there
not sure what game engine they are using but obsidiand and bethesda could learn from them
i heard rockstar is planning an rpg- hope they do

First, let me just say this..

You cannot modify Fallout New Vegas to play past the ending. It is impossible. I know...I do mod, just not online(I don't want to ruin online players experiences). Secondly, please work on your grammar. It's atrocious.

You could, but it was kinda just for kicks. They gave you a reusable book that every time you read it, you got like 300k xp or something like that. You became a God, more or less.

I think the fact it ends is fine considering they warn you well ahead of time of the point of no return.

Silly FO3 [censored], welcome to the real Fallout experience, haha.

Also, it was announced months ago that FO:NV was having a definitive ending, and that you would not be able to play post game. This is because the end cinematic tells how your choices changed New Vegas in the near future, and it wouldn't make sense for you to go and try to change the future.

Obsidian is also not planning on releasing any type of DLC like Broken Steel, where you can play post game.

So either deal with it or play another game, because whining isn't going to get you what you want.

Actually Fallout 3 had one of the worst endings in gaming history as far as I know... also fallout 3 ended after that. Broken steel "revived" you again (for some reason you can handle immensely high levels of radiation without any protection and the rest of the world can't) because of the many complaints of the very weak ending.

Oh but don't you know, apparently there was not only massive amounts of radiation, simply a massive power spike that you could also take with no problem, and then there is the whole getting you out of the death trap predicament...
