Cannot donload or Install Skyrim through Steam

Post » Thu May 08, 2014 6:54 am

I cannot download or install Skyrim through Steam. It hangs up at 34%. What's odd is that I don't have that problem with downloading and installing games with ORIGIN. Just that cursed Steam!
I don't know what you people did to Steam, but to download and install a game now is slower that the second coming Jesus Christ. That aid I will no longer purchase video games that require you client--no matter how good the games are. Thank you for [censored] things up as usual.
This [censored] didn't work: Please restart your computer and then follow the steps in our Troubleshooting Network Connectivity FAQ:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1456-EUDN-2493
And there is nothing wrong with my Xfinity. It's all on Steam's end. As usual.

_JOE: My Issue: Are you throttling down my download speed? Because I am trying to down load a game from Steam and it is slower than the second of Christ and it hangs at 34%: And, it never used to.
John: It's a privilege to have you here on chat and I am looking forward to provide you excellent service! I hope you are having a great day!

_JOE: Are you throttling down my download speed? Because I am trying to down load a game from Steam and it is slower than the second of Christ and it hangs at 34%: And, it never used to.
John: Honestly we didn't throttle your downloadspeed.
John: And also we can't do that on our end.
_JOE: So, what you are saying is that it is on Steam's end?
John: Yes it is possible that steam server also had a fault.
John: For us to confirm that you are getting the right speed let's check your speed test using this link: http://speedtest.comcast.net?
_JOE: It has been doing that all day long. I paid for a game I can neighter download or installl.
_JOE: I already ran a speed test. Still, is Xfinifty limiting my downloads?
John: Please provide me the link of the results.
_JOE: I didn't save it. But, it said 25.50 mbps dwnload
John: Thank you for providing that information.
John: Upon checking your account you are paying for up to 25 mbps speed.
_JOE: I know that
John: That's mean there's no problem on comcast end. I'm suggesting you to contact STEAM support.
_JOE: Yea, I have but it will be days before I hear anything."

Beth didn't do anything to Steam. They don't control the client.

Try shutting down Steam, wiping ClientRegistry.blob, and then restarting Steam. Also try other games on Steam, if possible.

I did what you asked and tried to download and install Oblivion and at 20% it started to flutter....stutter and at 30% it hung up. Earlier this morning I left Skyrim at 34% for a couple of hours and it never went beyond the 34% during that time. And, trying to get help from Steam support is like waiting for the second coming of Christ. I could be waiting days or weeks to hear back from them. If this continues I will no longer purchase any games associated Steam. no matter how good the game may be.

Okay, it's either your connection or something else.

You could try the Steam forums. If it's not the client but your network configuration, they could give you more insight.

Slow downloads from Steam have nothing to do with Bethesda. Your ISP or Steam itself are where you need to look for help.

Have you checked your Internet speeds with a speed test site? You may have speed issues with your ISP.

I am closing this as we can't do anything here to help you with the speed issues with Steam or your ISP.
