Cannot Launch in Fullscreen

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 12:53 am

When attempting to launch the game in fullscreen mode I either get a solid black screen with just a loading cursor, or a Flashing black Screen where the game seems to be running the back ground but is unplayable. The game works perfectly fine in windowed mode. I've checked my video drivers, fully updated. I've attempted changing gfx settings to no avail. I haven't seen any other posts regarding this exact issue. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening and any potential fixes?

I'm having the same issue. I went and updated my drivers and now I can't even launch it in windowed mode. But I did have that exact same issue.

With this engine, some people have better performance in Windowed Mode, some people have to run the game in Windowed mode. I believe there is a Borderless Window mode that removes the border from the game. I have not poked around in the options for that. If there is not, I am sure the Border Remover mod will be set up for this game soon enough.

Use System Restore to set your machine back to before you updated the drivers.

I had this issue and disabled Steam Overlay. This fixed it for me together with bFull Screen=1 in Fallout4Prefs.ini

You are able to run it borderless ( which is how i'm currently playing it) my primary problem with this is how small it is. If i could increase the size of the screen while in windowed mode I would be happy but I cannot go beyond the preset max which is only about half of my actual screen.

Many laptop users have this problem (I have a gtx 850m), but no real fix till now (I want to play with real fullscreen, since windowed mode usually has more stuttering and input lag ).
Opened a support request with Bethesda sending my. Dxdiag but no repky...
