Cannot See Scene and Dialog View Contents in Quest Editing

Post » Tue Jun 23, 2015 3:39 pm

HI all,

I was trying to follow the official tutorial for making a new mod. When I got to the section about adding dialogs it talked about "a series of rectangles that probably doesn't mean much to you" in the Dialogue View tab after creating a new dialogue view.

Once I created a new dialogue view I was unable to see anything in window where the rectangles should have shown up, causing this Dialogue View feature to be useless for me. I was able to work around this problem fairly easily by using the "Player Dialogue" tab instead =)

However, when I discovered a tutorial on working with Scenes I encountered the same trouble and I am worried that without being able to make scenes making mods is rather unpractical.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the creation kit but it did not help.

Has anyone heard of this problem before? I was not able to find any information related to it.

Is there a workaround that anyone knows of? Another way to make a scene perhaps as there was with the Dialogue View.

Thanks,

legume.

P.S. I am unable to post a link to the referenced tutorial due to forum restrictions.

the dialogue view's one thing, you don't necessarily need one, and you won't get one except if you make one.

for the scenes though... you did select the scene, right? i mean clicked a scene name? you won't see any of a scene's phases etc before you've selected one :-)

Yes, I did select the Scene name, zoomed in and out, scrolled over the area. I tried all of the buttons that I thought might help before uninstalling re-reinstalling the software =)

Valid question though. Thanks for the reply.

are you talking about pre-existing scenes or some you just made?

for a new one, the http://www.creationkit.com/Category:Scenes is add at least one actor (which can be any reference alias on the quest that scene is on) for that scene (right click the empty field), before that, you won't see anything else.

Ahh. I found what I was doing wrong!

I missed the step of the tutoral to right click in the empty space (or perhaps I missed the step to select the item before trying to create a branch).

Either way once I made sure to select the item from the table, right clicking in the empty area worked.

Thank you for your responses s7o. For some reason I was thinking a default branch (or scene phase) would be added automatically and it was not there. I am sure I had tried to right click to add it but it must not have been when I had the Scene or Dialogue View selected in the table.

It is all working as expected.

Thanks,

legume.
