I canNOT seem to align these 2 platforms... :(

Hi folks,

I've been trying to align these 2 platforms for hours now. I've taken one of the Ex_MH_platform_xx and flipped it upside down, and trying to place the same platform (right way up) directly on top of it, to form kinda like a discus.

I've tried with grid snap of course, with differing amounts of snap, from as little as 2 and up to 128. I've tried without grid snap and using the lil up/down arrows next to the x,y,z co-ords. I've come close, and just when I think I've got it, I pan around and see somewhere where its not aligned. It almost seems like one of the platforms isn't exactly rotated, like its out by a half degree or so.

I'm ready to pull my hair out atm. I've seen it done in another couple of mods and I can't for the life of me figure it out. Anyone got some hints or tips on how to go about this please? Perhaps something I haven't thought of?

Any help appreciated.

Hmm... I'm unsure how to say exactly what I know to be true...

I did the same thing to create an elevated platform, and had the same problem. After struggling with it for a very long time, I realized that the two sides of the platform are not entirely equal. thus, when you flip the platform upside down and rotate it to alignment, it will never mesh exactly because one side is always 180 degrees out with just enough difference to be slightly noticable.

I don't know if that makes sense or not, but if you follow the logic you will see it, impossible though it seems.

You want to mirror in in the Z-axis... which means you need a 3D program. NifSkope will suffice but it's a bit fiddly (copy each NiTriShape, scale vertices & normals, flip faces on the result); easier would be to do it in Blender or Max. Full editing has the advantage of easily allowing you to delete or reshape bits, too.

Yeah, you should definately better invest your time in learning Blender or Max basics. I've done it the same way as you, when I started modding and spent hours on flipping single tiles manually. This is a complete waste of time. It will take you half an hour and a simple beginner tutorial and you'll never have to worry about stuff like that anymore, trust me on that!!! ;)
