I highly doubt it to be honest. Why would it be Arroyo? I heard the Divide is a very stormy place.

It says its in a canyon and that the earth has not forgotten in the video, this is just a thought i have a friend in a vegas who doesent seem like anything that would be the divide. This seems plausible to me

I highly doubt it, Arroyo is over 100-200 miles away if geography serves me right.

They never give an exact location but Zion valley is over 200 miles away so its not exactly unplausible for arroyo to be the location. It would not only bring the story full circle for the courier and ulyssess but also with chris considering he worked on both and they allways tend to throw some stff from the first games in. Ill take the pint as a warm new astle brown ale please

I was wrong, did some research.

The actual distance from Vegas to Arroyo is more around 450-540 miles, the distance from Vegas to Zion is 263 miles... This is a much harder trip, and I see it as very implausable for a DLC.

EDIT: Furthermore in the game several people state they were from Arroyo, which is described as a now thriving city.

And I wonder how far away the Big Empty is from the Mojave or the Sierra Madre. Hell, I wonder how far Dog carried the Courier to the Madre. We honestly don't know much about the Divide, so really can't discredit his theory...

Big Empty had us teleported with a Satellite, so the distance is not important in that matter, Dog had us carried to the west according to a older thread so it was most likely on the edge of california/nevada border or near that location, and no we don't know much about the Divide, but I can assure you it's not Arroyo especially since, once again, it is now a thriving city called New Arroyo which was built upon Old Arroyo's ruins.

Geological, i don't think it would be completely impossible (though it would take over 2 month ), but as u wrote, it is described as a now trhriving city, and we all know that the divide isn't a "trhriving city! :woot:

The old world rests there. So obviously it has to do with something eather pre war civilization or maybe ever arroyo. You cant discredit the theory based on distance alone in point lookout your over 400 miles away from dc.

Aswell as it could also be tue san andreas fault which is plauged with earthquakes and storms, its also close to LA and in a way the old world would rest there. The old world style fashion and art, if they did LA in and early 1950s style it would fit the style thats been used for new vegas

No, but you can discredit it do to the fact that the city [i]still exists and is thriving [which means it is very alive and is doing very well][/i

LA was literally ruined and was turned into the Boneyard, which in turn became the Followers of the Apocolypses home. I remember hearing an NPC talking about it in New Vegas, and I think they said it turned into a bigger city. (This again means, it is still alive.)

It would make more sense for the Divide to be in northern Nevada, Utah or Idaho. (Untouched land, aside from Zion.)

LA is Boneyard.

Boneyard is an existing city.

Bah, I won't even bother anymore.

"The old world sleeps there" could be everything (Not like everything, everything) the war didn't destroy. If u ask me, Siera madre, and Big mt "slept" before the courier (or in Big Mt's case, ulysses) entered.

As someone has already pointed out, Arroyo should now be a large, thriving city. The Divide doesn't sound very "thriving" to me.

Not when the fault line is right in LA. It DIVIDES the city right through palmdale and east LA. I think that makes sence it divides the city and is plagued by storms and earth quakes

It should be common knowledge after 20 NPC's reference it, but i'm sorry.

EDIT: We hear nothing of a Divide or storms inside the first two Fallout games, so I really doubt it's in there, plus in Tactics they reference a Divide they crossed over which destroyed their Zepplins with its storms while it was travelling East(?).

Precisely why it wouldn't be thriving. You seem to be really going out of your way to ignore the "thriving" description of Arroyo just to keep your theory alive.

the beggining video in FO2 they talk about arroyo and how the earth doesent forget there, aswell it could also be LA because it actually has a divide in the ground, is plagued by storms and is fairly close to LA and vegas both vital parts to the fallout world. They hintedalot at LA in the game, they also hinted alot at the burned man and look who showed up in a dlc
