Hey PeoPle!!! I need help on buying furniture for my house in Whiterun. The steward that i bought it from is not giving me the option to buy furniture. What am i missing?

have you read the note on decorating he gave you? it should be under 'books' in your inventory.

I bought the house, and pvssyd with that guy again, and there i go, "Decorate my house please". But i was too poor to even afford a decoration.

Maybe I have to remove all items from chests first? He was asleep when I found him though, so maybe the time of day does matter.

Well, when I see the stewart he is on the balcony. Do you think he has to be standing next to the Jarl for him to offer furniture to me?

I had items in the chest upstairs before I went and got the decorations from the steward and they were still in the chest afterwards, so I don't think that affects anything. When you find the steward, there should be a dialogue option about decorating your house and then you just buy the decorations for each room (or select just the ones you want). Furniture, storage containers and a few other items are part of the package. The package for the kitchen includes a cooking pot you can use for example. I also found some gold coins in some of the cupboards and cabinets (upstairs ones at least) after I got the house decorated, so it's worth checking all those after you get them.

Steward has to be in the main hall near where the jarl sits. he cannot be on the balcony or in his room for decorations to be offered.

I'm pretty sure the time of day matters, he acts sorta like a shop i think. Just try him during shop hours.
