Cant get higher fov than 80? (1.8 patch)

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 10:16 am

I updated to 1.8,

Watched the intro... you guys really banned g_skipintro ?

Anyway, checking the console and:

Code:
[Warning] Unknown command: g_skipIntro=1
[Warning] Unknown command: cl_fov=90
[Warning] Unknown command: pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=90
[Warning] Unknown command: r_DrawNearFoV=90

So i typed, cl_fov 90 and id said: cl_fov = [80]

80 is too small for me.

Congrats you sucessfully killed 100% of my enthusiasm for this game.

Why on earth you limited the cl_fov to 80???

Did you even read the auto exec help?

Code:
cl_fov = 90

Basically add the space and it fixes all the commands, next time how about you read alittle before posting your rage?

I think most people don't understand fov setting.

If you play on widescreen, fov=60 is 90 degree.
Fov setting is different with actual ingame fov.

Have you played Crysis & Warhead? You felt their fov is toooooooooooo small?
I think you didn't feel so. But fov setting is fov=60 in Crysis & Warhead.
Most people didn't change fov in Crysis & Warhead. Because it wasn't problem.

Probably, most people who say "too narrow fov" don't understand fov of CE.
Fov=80? It's 110~120 degree. It makes very warped image, very unnatural.

FOV was restricted to 55 minimum and 80 maximum, this is to prevent abuse of the function.

Please see: https://secure.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=319370#p319370

Please also see the stickies for further info.

Set the FOV too high and you get the ability to see all around you, which is unfair and I'd consider it hacking. So yeah.

It's mostly to prevent clipping through walls. If your FOV is too high and you're standing next to a wall, you'll be able to see through it.

Since when customizing the fov as I like is abuse?

For some people 55 is good, for other 80 is good and for some folks like me 90 is good.

If Im able to see through wall because of fov 90 then I think it's not fault of fov... but I dont really want to argue with you boys anymore.

did you know that 60 FOV in this game is really 90 FOV because it vertical not horizontal FOV that's being used.

You know what, I dont give a (bad word).

Im not calculating that 60 = 90 etc. etc. I should be able to set whatever I want to achieve view that fits my needs.

80 as for me was to small so before 1.8 I set fov to 90 and it was perfect for me. Now after 1.8 Im forced to choose from 55 to 80 because.... this is cheating or something like that? This is complete absurd...

If there is any cheating in game then it for sure is not related to fov.

It's not absurd at all. What is absurd is the ridiculous FoV some people use.

Yeah, "cl_fov = 60" results in a 90° field of view, Crysis 1 standart. I'm fine with it.

Well Fov past 85 did give the ability to see threw walls. Very true. I have seen this done and have experienced it also. I use to run at 95 but it also made the game warp way to much to handle. But if they sped up the nanosuit i would put my fov at about 70. I manly used it to help speed up my guy.

Would someone knowledgeable detail the function of each of the three FOV settings? Would you ever want them different?

r_drawnearFOV is locked to 55 in MP.
Why?

Why not just fix the clipping through walls or w/e instead of limiting FOV?

I do not want to speculate but I think it would be just to much work for them.

Shame, I really wanted to like this game once again but now I really dont know how to do it...

I give up.

Instead of worrying about your FOV how about you jack up your 14% hit rate of the scar, instead of thinking how much you see on your screen makes all the difference. When you push the limits of how much information you see it actually strains your brain to comprehend what it's seeing, it also severely decreases your ability to aim precisely.

I can't believe how much people are complaining because they can't jack up their field of view anymore, even so much as to woefully mourn it and just give up. Can that sound any more pathetic?

Please Crytek lock the cl_fov command. You are still able to see through walls with anything over 60... -.-
