after leaving the vault and finding my home a cant talk to Codsworth. It just stands in front of me doing nothing at all. I tried to press E ,reload pc,reaload game save . Nothing works. Help please! i m eager to play!

I'm having the same issue. Tried last night to work around it, but no luck.

Codsworth just won't speak to me. He's broken.

To be clear: the issue is happening in the same place in the game as Leonardo. In the early game (pre-war sequence), Codsworth works just fine--he says his dialog and even my character's name. No issues there.

After emerging from vault 111 and finding Codsworth, he is located in the normal place outside the house. But when I try to talk to him, nothing. I press E, and he just sits there.

Not wanting to be blocked, I decided to just play the game with him broken anyway. Went to Concord, did the main mission stuff there, and brought Preston back to Sanctuary. The reason I mention this is that all throughout Concord, dialog with NPCs worked fine. But then, when Preston came back to Sanctuary, suddenly I ran into the same problem: I was talking to him in the street, and all of the sudden speech broke down. I can't talk to him anymore either.

I can still talk to other NPC, but my game now no longer allows me to speak to Codsworth or Preston. I'm wondering if it's a general dialog system issue--maybe a timing issue of some kind?--where eventually NPCs' dialog gets buggered and it never recovers.

I'm hesitant to continue to play--I'm worried I'm just slowly corrupting a save file or something, although I tried loading a save from before I even left the vault and the same result still happened when I tried to talk to Codsworth.

I've tried multiple workaround: console commands (disable/enable, kill/resurrect, the "wait 5 days" trick"), but nothing seems to fix it. I'm pretty much paralyzed from playing any farther at this point just due to the fear that I will eventually have to start the whole game over.

I'm having a similar issue, not with Codsworth but only with Preston. I noticed this the first time I attempted to travel with him as a companion from Sanctuary. He basically just stood in the same spot and would not respond to any dialogue, couldn't travel with him or turn in quests. I reloaded a save and this got him working again.

After playing without a problem for a few more hours, I was able to get Piper as a companion. I switched to her and told Preston to go to the Castle. He proceeded to get stuck on the door (we were inside the newpaper building in Diamond City) until I exit the building. He then walked out of the building but got stuck next to the stairs area going toward the exit of Diamond City. Now he's just standing there and will not respond to dialogue again. I believe my next step will be to try and reload an earlier save before I got Piper then save before trying to switch over to her to see if Preston gets stuck like this again.

My issue is Codsworth isn't even visible (so I can't try targeting him or using him)... I am standing at the 'house' location where it says he is, but no Codsworth. So I can't start the quest. Any help would be appreaciated.

Guys , i have found the way out if it can be called so. I just restarted the game and this issue disapperared. I left vault ,approached Codsworth and he talked to me himself,i even failed to pres E. By now a i ve played about 10 hours anf everything`s allright! I hope it will help you!
