Cant walk in the crafting interface!

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 6:40 pm

Hello i have the pc version of fallout 4 and when i go to build a house structure like floors, walls and etc i can move the pieces in and out and rotate them left and right but i cannot walk my character around to be able to place these items with more precision i always have to exit the interface and reposition my character in another way and reopen the crafting interface and try again, does anyone else have this problem and if so have u figured out how to fix it. I have watched you tube videos of people walking all over the place with their interface open and placing walls and floors and other stuff.

You should be able to walk around. Must be a bug.

If you open the steam overlay while in the interface you can't walk. Maybe that.

Did you rebind your movement keys ? Because it seems that if you do, it won't work in workshop mode. For instance people with azerty keyboards will likely change "wasd" to the corresponding "zqsd" but in workshop mode, only 's' and 'd' still work.

It's awful and Bethesda should be ashamed to fail something as basic as key binding.

It's a bit odd, but you have to use the Toggle Run/Walk button instead of the Run button (that you hold down). I think the default for it is Caps-Lock.

This is most likely his issue. It is a known thing.

A side note, given the snap to interface is so clunky and annoying and that the game is too damn finicky with not allowing miinor clipping of placed objects.....

one can use console to enable TCL mode

this allows one far greater freedom of movement when placing a item, you can even 'fly' to get a better placement .

Also, if placing objects in this mode, clipping of placed objects (if all your objects are placed this way) is allowed.

Its a bit wonky though but it works.

There is a fuller description of how this is done on this thread at STeam

TRogdor is the poster with details. Find his post.

Hopefully down the line this entire wonky system can be fixed with mods and we won't have to fool with console tricks using TCL.

Oh man, why didn't I think of TCL? That will make it so much simpler.
