CANTERBURY ESTATES
Version 0.8 / by .sidekick

Canterbury Estates is a complete lore friendly overhaul of the town Canterbury Commons. By adding several new interiors, 15 new NPCs and many other features, the town feels much more alive compared to the vanilla version. Every player hears about the town relatively early in the game. All the traders talk about it as the trading hub of the wastes and I think I'm not the only one who was disappointed with what you find when you finally reach it.

If you want Canterbury to be the town it should be, this mod is for you!

///// TO DO - REQUEST FOR HELP! /////
At the moment every planned house is completely build, cluttered and Navmeshed. Some minor things like the custom items and a small quest has to be added, but that can wait. What desperately needs to be made are the NPCs. I really like creating environments, cluttering rooms and all this stuff, but when it comes to NPCs, I loose my patience.

So if anyone on this forum likes what this mod has become so far and is interested in helping out creating daily routines and behaviours to the NPCs, feel free to send me a PM or post a reply in this thread. It would be great if you already have some experience in adding NPC behaviour. Some references like mods, created by you are also a plus.

What you should be able to do:

  • Daily NPC routines
  • NPC Factions, and faction behaviour
  • NPC reaction to the Canterbury alarm system (flee or fight)
  • Dialogue options

Besides that, any responses, ideas or critics are welcome!

Greetings,
.sidekick

Not sure if http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5463 ever got entirely finished. Might be a possible collaboration there, if not.

I've already seen the mod, but as it is going in another direction about what the town should be, I think a colaboration will not make much sense. Canterbury Embiggened aims for creating a trading hub with rival gangs, drugs and stuff. Personally, I think CC should be more of a nice, peacefull community in the middle of the wastes (... with superheroes! B) ). I don't think the whole gang-scenario would fit to my own attemt in expanding the town.

I guess you'll have to chosse which mod you like the most as they will not be compatible with each other.

I hope you find some talented people to help with this interesting project. I always felt that Canterbury Commons left a lot to be desired after hearing the caravan merchants rave about it.

Seems excellent. Hope you find someone to help out with the NPCs.

*Slight spoilers*

I wonder if doing the Superhuman Gambit will have any consequences in the town? When I did the (very entertaining) quest the first time I sort of hoped that it would lead to some merchants returning or something. Uncle Roe says something about the battles scaring off merchants, so it seems like it would be fitting to have things returning to normal after finishing it.

Anyway, looking forward to checking this out. Keep up the good work!

Hi...

I finally managed to get Fallout 3 running fine under Win7 and found this mod I worked on some month ago. Even if it isn't finished I still think it's a great addition to the game and so I've decided to release a beta version of Canterbury Estates this weekend, so everyone who is interested can download it and see what I've created this far.

At the current state all the buildings are completed, lighted, cluttered and navmeshed, but the town still lacks working NPCs. So if you are able to create some daily routines to my NPCs and want to help out, drop me a line once the beta is released.

I've spent so many hours working on this mod and I don't want them to be wasted time!

The files will be released on sunday evening on Fallout Nexus: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10323
