stops after lvl 20 and there are 58 abilities and you get one point per lvl. so no you cant get everything with one char

They've said pretty clearly that XP will cross over fully between offline and online play.

It's going to be possible to unlock everything without going online if you want to, or if you have no internet connection.

Some of the challenges will be more difficult though (up to 4-player co-op on challenges, if you're an organised team, that should make things MUCH easier)

As kittykatkief said, you can't have EVERY ability on your character, but playing only offline won't limit you at all.

Hurray, hex edit the save file to level 20 on all initial characters!

Offline experience systems really do work!

You'd only be ruining the game and it's learning curve for yourself, it's not like you'd get an advantage over other players seeing as how you'd be playing with people in rank 5.

Also, it'd be a stupid idea on the PC, as the game uses VAC, and character data will be stored on Steam Cloud.

You're right, honor systems are the best way to prevent cheating.

Btw, offline play means no Steam Cloud. Which means, you do what you want offline, and when you go online you send all your new and updated client data to the cloud.
VAC is an anti-cheat app that scans running processes against your running game process (It looks for hacks).
