Car Names

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 1:22 pm

I was just wondering if anyone else, like me, has lovingly given their car a name. If you have, share what it is and why. (And if not, and you have one that you use regularly, you should give it one so you have something to yell other than curse words when it breaks down)

I named my 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Eugene. This was for two reasons.

1. A friend of mine informed that it looks like "an angry old man's jalopy," so I chose an old-man sounding name.
2. The old man sounding name I chose is also the name of one of my political heroes, Eugene V. Debs.

So, what have you named your car?

My '96 Accord doesn't have a name, but if she did, it'd be "Old Faithful" seeing as she's gotten through a quarter million miles (245,000+) without any serious hassle. In New England, that's no easy feat. A testament to how a solid car performs when you take good care of it.

I've never named a car I've owned. Seems odd to hang a name (such as you would a pet or a person) on an inanimate object like a car. It'd be like naming your dishwasher or TV.

My car's name is "Killer," in honor of all the victims that have fallen before it. You may have seen it in a game called Frogger. :P

My mode of transport has no name, but I feel that it might need one.

Most ships and boats are named by their owners, so why not?
My truck doesn't have a name, but I call my '60 Harley "Miss Molly".

My car's name is Cameron (or Cam for short). It's a Camry.

Wait, you don't name your household appliances? Well, I do. My dishwasher is called DeeDubaya and my TV is called Tele-Vyper. My refrigerator is called Frozenshade, my microwave is called Hee-Tor, my oven is called The Ovenator, my clothes washer is called Bob, my clothes dryer is called Brenda, my blender is called Blenda, my PC is called Gei-Moar, my laptop is called Wer-Kor, my DVD player is called DeVid and my ceiling fan is called Slashdown (or Slash for short).

My mode of transport has no name, but I feel that it might need one.

Hmm, let's see...

Bob?
Fred?
Rattlebasket?
Ponderous Acrobat?
Militant Pacifist?
Banerover?
Windwheeler?
Shadowrider?
Octocarrier?

I can come up with more, if necessary...

My car is blue, occasionally makes funny sounds, and hold a lot more stuff than you'd think it would (judging by the size).

I named it the CARDIS. >.>

I will say the most clever one I've heard was a friend of mine with a 1993 Corolla. He named it Wilma. As in "Wilma car start?"

"Fran" occasionally, since that's what the numberplate looks like. Otherwise "my car".

Once I discovered you could get Decepticon emblems for your vehicle, I decided my car was one. A friend came up with the name Violator (Long story inside joke) and it stuck.
