Carb-9 too good?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:38 am

Why does everyone put muzzle break on there guns? Doesn't it only reduce range and is just some visual effect? I usually use the Carb-9 as a backup gun with extended mags for when I run into a lot off players at close/medium range.

It increases stability.

But the difference between the muzzle brakes is purely visual.

Some guns with the muzzle brake attached don't even increase stability depending if you have the speed sling attached.

And with the muzzlebrake on the Kross the foregrip does not add any stability. You purely just lose stats with it, so speed sling is preferred.

Haha, awesome. Everyone likes different guns. That is super good news.

I'm not sure if this will work, but let's see if anyone is interested in turning to a new topic: Silencers.

Every time I equip a silencer to any of the weapons, I play with it long enough to enjoy the awesome look of it, but always give it up quickly when I remember how much it's reducing my damage. This is even more apparent when using shotguns.

How many people actually use silencers on a regular basis? I've seen a couple of posts in this thread saying that they do, but I can't see any practical value to them as most games are so fast paced that the advantage gained by not being seen on the map while hidden is almost non-existent. Anyone care to enlighten me?

You're right, I mixed it up with the silencer xD But I still see a lot of players putting muzzle brakes on there guns and I just don't get that...

For some reason I use a silencer on the shotgun most of the time. I just love it that way and it keeps you under the radar. Damage does get reduced, but when you get a clear shot and take down another player you can finish him off with melee or another blast to the head.

And what are you basing this information upon, the in-game stats? They're wrong.

Go setup a private match and test the spread pattern on a wall with and without the muzzle break attachment. There is indeed a difference with one equipped.

The Gerund is an excellent weapon. Probably my favorite. It performs extremely well with a COGA scope.
Seems like you can usually get off 4-6 rounds with minimal to no recoil in any direction.

The Rhett is another gun that will eat your face off. It is severely unstable at longer ranges and definitely
must be fired in 2-3 round bursts at longer distances to be effective, but the massive amount of damage it
puts out more than makes up for its' tendency to kick like a mule. This thing destroys up close faster than
any other AR or SMG I've come across. Plus it sounds great.

I don't think it's at all like an AR, because at least the ARs can fire off a bullet or two with near-pinpoint accuracy and little recoil, whereas the Carb takes you on a spray joyride right from the get-go. And I don't see how the Galactic makes the best silenced weapon either, since it's the weakest full-auto gun in the game. I'd prefer to put my suppressor on the Tampa, Carb or Bulp... one of the SMGs that can take a damage penalty a little better.

That's fine, but I disagree. I have no intention of telling anyone how to play. Everyone will find something different in the weapons, that was my point.

I've always favored Assault Rifles over SMGs whenever I play shooters. Can honestly say I haven't used the carb-9 much.

I like the Euston personally. Not the highest damage, but has a decent fire rate and pretty accurate. I use the drum magazine & acog attachment. With the drum mag, you can lay down a lot of fire before reloading and with decent accuracy. I like the bulpdaun as a secondary... This gun should really be classified as an AR IMO. Like most assault rifles, you'll get better accuracy with short bursts vs, holding down the trigger.

Different weapons work better for different people, I guess.

I'm a Light and I rely on a silenced Galactic most of the time. Doesn't work for you, though, apparently...

Haha, true true. Thing is, I was trying it out with irons for the first time too which are TERRIBLE on the Galactic... might have played a role in me getting stomped. It was also Co-Op versus bots at a much higher rank than I was.

*points at sig*
Gerund w/ 4-vent MB, foregrip + COGA scope.

I've found MBs make quite a difference to stability... or at least on PS3, and at least on the Gerund and Galactic. It's certainly noticeable, and I'd rather have a more consistent stream of bullets hitting my target at a slightly lowered damage, than much less bullets hitting with normal damage.

What's funny is that all of the SMGs have the exact same fire rate.

According to the in game stat chart, that's true, but I'm pretty sure that the Kross shoots faster than the other SMGs,but I could be wrong.

According to the stats that DenKirson pulled from the PC version all of the SMGs have the exact same fire rate. I think the actual sound is what is misleading as the Kross sounds like it is firing much, much faster.

TOTALLY off-topic, but could someone tell me what IMO stands for? I've seen it mentioned many many times on this forum, and am totally befuddled as to what it means. An ice-cream cone to the first person that can help me :D

All SMGs have the same rate fo fire. Also, no SMGs use a clip. That is all.
