Carriage System!

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:22 am

dunno about you guys, but this new carriage system is one of the best bit of info for me! probably the best thing to stilt riders. so i think i won't be using fast travel THAT MUCH. what i loved about stilt riders was that i could take one from place to place, and then hike it from there. love this new bit of info!

Because it sounds like a very good compromise between fast travel lovers and haters.

I've always been the stuck-up Morrowind fan saying "Fast travel is too easy, it spoils people, it takes away from the experience, nag nag nag." So the carriage system sounds great to me. I don't really mind free-map fast travel being in the game, but making it the only way to get places without walking across the province bothered me a lot in Oblivion. Being able to pay money for that kind of service makes me feel less guilty about traveling quickly.

I can imagine a good ten-twenty members who've said "ZOMG CARRIAGES :bonk: URRR!" crying their eyes out upon hearing the news.

Well... I... never played Morrowind. :obliviongate:

I'm actually surprised at the amount of praise this feature is getting.

I wonder if it's teleportation style, or GTA style where you can actually "Ride". (My guess is the former)

What we do know is carriages will allow us to transport to major locations we haven't been to yet. Fast Travel will work as it did in Oblivion where you actually have to have gone to that location previously.

I am really curious if carriages will be an instant travel (like silt striders), or will we actually sit in the carriage and watch it move? Either way, it's a nice system to have in the game that will bring immersion and another form of transportation.

I like the sound of the carriage system. I don't like Oblivion style fast-travel.

I hope people aren't over thinking this. Oblivion style fast travel is in. A carriage system allows you to travel to major locations you haven't visited also.

To be honest, I love this. So we get fast travel, but we don't start with every city in the game readily available. We will have to explore at least a little beforehand. Good compromise!

Doesn't it imply that you cant fast travel to the major cities at the beginning of the game?

I love that because it makes for a much more realistic way of exploring

I read it that you may be able to ' carriage travel' to these locations without exploring. To ' fast travel' you have to of discovered an area through exploration.

I don't think they are over-thinking it. Seems to me like people are happy that they're going to get an in-game source for traveling between cities, so they don't have to walk (because not everybody likes map fast-travel).

I'm just happy their's going to be both options. Simple as that. No over thinking or dreaming up random ideas due to taking things out of context. There's just going to be both options.

I really wanted in-world travel options.

I am happy now! :tes:

For some reason the fast-travel issue meant an inordinate amount to me. Probably because it's a relatively easy thing to add, hurts no-one, and shows some love for the significant number of people whining about it on the forums. So now I feel loved.
