carriage... teleport or real time?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:21 pm

One thing I find that's better in Daggerfall than any other game is the real-time fast travel. I love the concept of it, it just needs particular balancing. That's right, Elder Scrolls is so epic that its travel systems needs balancing.

What? There're going to be carriages in the game?

Anyway, if there was an option to catch a ride on anything then we need to have the option to click -> load screen -> arrive.

I say just like RDR and GTAIV, real time if you want to but you have the option to skip it.

Why not include an option for both? Like the taxi cabs in GTA IV or the carriages in Red Dead Redemption? You can either watch the whole ride, or press a button to instantly arrive at your destination.

EDIT: ninja'd

Morrowind was perfect. You got on the Silt Rider or the Boat, then the screen faded, then came back and time had elapsed and you were at your next destination.

If I wanted to see the world go by as I traveled, then I would walk or run to the next location.

I think it should work like it did in Morrowind. teleport, not free, and not to just anywhere.

Teleport so that we can save time instead of waiting 10-30 minutes to get to our destination. I'm thinking it's going to be you talk to an NPC by the carriage, he or she will be like hello blah blah where you want to go and then an option menu will come up with Destinations and possibly how much it'll cost to go there.

i think it should be like red dead redemption or gta 4 where you can watch it in real time and press a button to skip.

Teleport or trip (make it an option) at first use, teleport after that.

I'd prefer real time with a skip button, that would be absolutely perfect

First it's: NO MORROWIND STYLE TRAVEL SYSTEMS WTF!?!?!?
Now it's: MORROWIND STYLE TRAVEL SYSTEMS BUT NOT RED DEAD REDEMPTION STYLE WTF??!?!?
Lol, people will never cease to complain. We all got exactly what we asked for, both the option between fast-travel and a more immersive method. Now stop complaining.

It would be cool if they made the carriages so that they could both teleport and work in real time - like in Red Dead Redemption.
